It sounds like your timing may be off. Have a certified Mechanic check it with his timing light. This might be a time to look at the condition of the timing belt, if it has a belt and not a chain. The belts are made of rubber that's pretty much like a flat serpentine belt, they don't last forever! I was told recently by a respectable fella that you are supposed to change some of them at 50k. Another thing you might look at is the condition of the exhaust pipe, make sure that there is plenty of pressure at the tailpipe. Sometimes exhaust pipes are known to plug up inside, they even collapse inside where you can't see it from the outside. If you think that may be it take the pipe loose as soon as possible behind your engine, then go drive it with it loud and see if the performance gets any better. Good Luck, I hope this helped.

When I start the engine, the word SPORTS flashes on the instrument panel for a few seconds. What does ths mean?

It means your car has various modes for the way it drives. In Sports Mode, it revs higher in each gear and changes gear quickly giving you fast acceleration. It will often lock onto the gear when your take your foot off the brake to give you engine braking and keeping the wheels in contact with the engine rather than free-wheeling.

The opposite is Ecomony, which changes gear as early as possible and keeps the revs low with smooth changes.

In the middle is Normal mode.

Hope that helps.

Hi. I have 2003 Toyota Sequoia. I just replaced a dead battery with a brand new one. When connected the new battery, it started blowing horn so I did handle that with pressing the unlock key on key FOB and...

Sounds like your car is in the limp home mode. When the computer in your car fails it goes into a limp home mode that lets you drive it home at a slow speed. Sounds like when you changed the battery you may have damaged the computer. Take it to the dealer to have it checked out.

MY 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY TAKES A SLOW RESPONSE BEFORE TALKING OFF. I PUT MY FOOT ALL THE WAY DOWN BUT IT DELAY A COUPLE OF SECONDS BEFORE ACCELERATING

That is a drive by wire throttle set up. (No cable connects the pedal to the throttle body) I have heard of a few problems with throttle body motor lag, but i would check the pedal sensor and see if it is within the specs and do the same for the motor.

Try putting the in in on position and depress accelerator pedal to floor for ree seconds three times. that should put it in learning mode however sounds more like TCM or tranny valve body.

What does "B" & "S" Mean on Vitz Automatic Gear Transmission?

I have recently bought a vitz/ yaris 2006 imported from Japan. Local dealers/ automobile mechanics have told me that S is for Speed i.e. you should ideally shift to this one when you cross 100 kmph. Another view on this ''S'' gear is for sporty driving overall when you can use a surge of fuel for higher acceleration.
'B' as I have been told is for driving in hilly areas on rather steep & continous inclines & declines.
Please do note that this information is from off the streets & cannot be authenticated from any toyota mannual yet. I with Toyota would itself offer english translationso of owner's handbooks online.

What does the e s button do in the 93 vw passat

E for economy, and S for sport. The button allows you to switch from normal mode E economy, to S sport mode for better acceleration and quicker down-shifts when driving in a more agressive or performance manner. The S mode will make the transmission shift at higher revs before engaging the next gear, in order to give better response. Likewise when you enter a corner and let off the throttle (gas) , most transmissions will often change to a higher gear. This is not ideal for spirited driving, because you want the revs up a bit and to stay in the lower gear to accelerate out of the corner after you have cleared the apex. For everyday driving the sport mode keeps the car from up-shifting and down-shifting too much in traffic or on windy roads etc. The emphasis is on performance rather than ultimate fuel economy in Sport. Try it out next time you feel sporty and fell the difference. But for best gas mileage leave the car in E mode for economy.
