Question about Cadillac DeVille

HELP! Earlier this evening I went to a store and pressed the tab on the door to lock all the doors and then pressed the individual lock tab, so that when I returned I wouldn't have to use a key to open the door. When I returned I opened the door and all the alarms went blasting. I have no idea on how to turn these alarms off. After several minutes of sitting in the car with the engine running the alarms finally turned off. I proceeded home and as soon as I opened the door the alarms once again went off. All my groceries are still sitting in the car and the temps are in the teens. It is almost 10 at night. Hoping someone will be able to give me some answers quick. I do not have a remote keyless entry fob.

Thanks for the info. At least if I do this dumb exercise again in the future, I will know how to handle the situation. My husband took care of the problem this morning after disconnecting the battery as directed by countrycurt0 last night to get our groceries in.

Appreciate all your answers. Thanks again!

If you disconnect the neg. battery cable, it will stop the alarm, but of course that doesnt solve the problem, it would only allow u to get your groceries out of the car w/out the alarm .

Assuming you don't have an owners manual for the car either, my guess would be to use the key to lock, then unlock the door from the outside. It should disarm the alarm when unlocking and entering the vehicle in the usual manner.

2002 Cadi Deville, can't get any locks to operate with remote or dash push buttons, the remote operates everthing but the locks! When the remote door lock is pressed, lites flash, horn blows locks not.

Power Door Lock Operation
The vehicle is equipped with power door locks. Each lock actuator is powered and controlled by the door module mounted in the individual door, but the rear integration module (RIM), which is the master control for the door lock system, determines when the lock functions are permitted. The RIM receives and examines the requested lock function from the individual door modules, or from the remote function actuator (RFA) via the class 2 serial data circuit. The RIM also examines the transmission shift selector position and the ignition switch position information available over the Class 2 serial data circuits. If the RIM determines that a lock or unlock function is permitted, it sends a class 2 message back to the individual door modules commanding them to perform that Lock or Unlock function.

Aveo door lock

Hi All
I really appreciate all the solutions that have been posted. The only concern that I have is that none of the solutions are referring to the 1987 Chrysler Fifth Ave. There is everything from Chev,GMC,Toyota and Honda. Does anyone have a solution for my Fifth Ave? Thanks Tony

I have a 2003 Hyundai Elantra. The remote locks the doors but sometimes it won't unlock the doors. I have to go to the passenger side, press lock on the remote, then press unlock (I can hear the 'clicks'...

Possible issue with the remote controller unit - main board or sub assemblies. The intermittent behavior seems to indicate that the board is erratic to detect at the same time the individual locks work at times.
So make sure all the connectors to the door and to the main board controller are tight. You can remove the main unit and check for any loose connections or clogging, specially water in all the door units or in main unit. If so dry and test.
Otherwise the main unit is a suspect.

Buy lock defroster and spray it in the lock. Thry to warm the keey and the lock with hairdryer. Next time use vaselin or any other pertoley based grees and put it on the rubber arround the doors and put some defroster in the locks.

So the sliding back door is stuck in the unlock position it sounds like? Also, the switch on the door...that locks/unlocks all doors? And is there an option to lock/unlock each individual door on that switch? Please let me know and I will see if I can determine how tedious it may be to self-repair or even just to troubleshoot. Also,do you have any electrical measuring equipment?Greg

Need a diagram of how the door panel comes off of a 95 chevy blazer. I need to remove the door panel to fix the lock assembly. Need to know if there are clips at the bottom of the door, or just the screws.

There will always be clips attached to the panel from the inside-after screw removal and window crank removal (window crank on mostly earlier models) You can start at a bottom edge with what i recommend a door panel removal tool-most auto parts store carry these. even if a clip falls out you can reinsert it.Also the door removel tool doubles as a window crank clip remover.

um i would take it to like an auto parts store and have them hook it up to the computer and it might give them a code then you will know what is wrong with it. this does not cost anything and it would be worth a try
