it seems you have a starter problem, trace the positive wire on the battery to the starter and make sure its got a good connection and also make sure the starter is grounded. as for the oil all over, that sounds like a head gasket. what were the conditions of the last time it was driven. was there a sound, smoke, any information you can give will help me. did it just turn off. or did it drive fine and not start the next time u tried.

If it ISN'T cranking over ok ... and has a discharged battery..
Disconnect the leads from the rear of the alternator. A faulty alternator can discharge a battery within minutes. Charge the battery and leave the alternator disconnected. Try and start the car.

If - with a charged battery and alternator disconnected - the engine seems very slow to crank or makes a 'clicking' noise ... try cleaning the battery terminals - particularly where the black lead connects to the engine block/bodywork.

Check the leads -and terminals - for breakage/corrosion. A 'bad earth' or corroded/loose battery terminal can cause non-starting problems.

If all is ok and the car spins the engine but won't start, suspect a sensor fault.

Don't waste money on replacing part after part in the hope that the care will fire up. The best - and cheapest - option is to have an OBD - a hand held diagnostic check done. This will identify any error codes and tell you the cause .. i.e 'crankshaft sensor fault'.

I have a 1995 Golf. I turn it over and nothing....tried to jump stat with jumper cables, but the alarm goes off and there is still no power...not even a clicking noise. What could be the problem?

If your car is not crank at all when you start it, please check your starter's SOLENOID and it's incoming power. If there is incoming power but your starter is not crank the problem is the solenoid. You need to repair or replace it.
The solenoid has purpose as CONTACTOR to your starter.
So whether you are using new battery is useless since there is no power coming into your starter.
The problem should be there

Best luck.

MY CAR WILL NOT CRANK I REPLACED THE STARTER, ALTERNATOR AND FUEL PUMP. AFTER THAT IT STILL WILL NOT CRANK. WHAT COULD IT BE???

No crank means dead battery, jump it or get a new battery. If your battery was not dead and you didn't get fuel or it did not start you would get a cranking noise and no starting

I have a 98 plymouth voyager that does not crank. all lights and everything comes on but no crank. had battery and starter tested good. replaced fuel pump but still does not crank. please help!!

Check the transmission neutral start inhibit switch is not the cause of your problem. (try both 'P' to 'N' positions).
If the headlights work ok there should be enough power in the battery to at least make a solenoid type noise when start is attempted.
Check the battery terminals are clean and firmly attached to the battery,
Check battery is properly grounded to the chassis and motor,
Check that +12v is available at the starter motor engage solenoid when the ignition switch is held in the 'start' position - check any start slave relay operation.
If all above is OK, you may have a faulty starter motor.
