Question about 2003 Ford Mustang
I have this squealing noise that starts getting loud at1500rpms and levels off at 2500rpms.The noise picks up for a second when you let off the throttle before it goes to idle. I took it to for different mechanics.
The sound seams like a blown exhaust manifold gasket. It has that fluttering, squealing noise. One mechanic sent me to an exhaust shop.
I grew up building the old style engines not these SOHV. My friend who is a certified mechanic told me year’s back they were throw away engines. The noise sounded to me like it was coming from under the valve cover towards the back cylinders. A ford mechanic asked me to start it up. He reved it once, turned it off and said it was a risk pin bearing. I finally decided to take the valve cover off and have a look myself.
When I took off the cam bearing caps, the front two looked great. However they got worse going back towards the firewall.
I think this is the squealing noise, What do you guys think? Have you ever been asked this or heard this kind of noise before?
A head and cam is cheaper than a crate engine. If this is it, how long do you think it will go? Does ford have an oiling problem because the front lifters are pumping 3-5inches and gets less again towards the back.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
