My check engine light is coming on. sometimes it is steady and sometimes it will flash on and off. the engine seems to be "bucking" (almost as if its running out of gas or has a plugged fuel filter)and i have an on and off power loss while driving, especially when going uphill. in park it runs rougher than normal and there is a very foul odor- almost like a plugged catalytic converter smell- like sulfur or rotten eggs. please help!!!

Rotten egg smell??? Thats smell could be either from a bad 02 senser or a totally clogged catalytic converter...not terribly expensive to replace. As far as the engine shaking, and it not going quick out of the stop light, I'd pull my tranny dipstick and smell the fluid and check for a buring smell and or the color. You want it to be a light red color. You may have an internal transmission issue. You said you got "fluild" out of your tailpipe, was it just water, or was did it have a scent to it. You really should have the car checked out, with those symptoms that you listed you could do more damage by still driving it that way.

If you still have the warranty on your car you are quite in your rights to leave the car with them and tell them to get it fixed or you will be taking legal action.it could be that your pollem filter is dirty and nds to be changed. If it is the catalytic converter then that is a costly part.It can not be cleaned it has to be changed.Good luck Phil.
