Need to replace transmission. Want to repalce withut removing engine if possible.
Nope it will come out the bottom
I just removed the ****** in a 97 ford escort, no you do not have the remove the engine but you will have to pull both drive axles, rotors, brake assembly, disconnect the front suspension, remove the air intake, battery box, and disconnect the ****** switch lever to do so. You will also have to remove both of the lower crossmembers. It is kind of a pain to remove the ****** out the bottom of the car without a ****** jack but can be done.
Yes and no. If you don't remove the engine the transaxle has to come out from the bottom in most cases. That means the cradle has to be lowered and the suspension taken apart.

SOURCE: Brake Rotor Replacement Ford Escort 1997
The rotor is not held on by the big nut, it slides on and off, only the wheel holds it on, the clearance between the rotor and the front hub which the large nut holds on is very small, rust forms and the rotor gets stuck, use a hammer or a large piece of wood if you plan to reuse the rotor and hit it from side to side, spray penetrating oil to loosen the rust, it is a bugger but it will come loose, then make sure to wire brush all the rust off or wheel retention may be compromised.

SOURCE: Replacing dashboard clock. How do I remove the
You shouldn't have to remove the dash to replace a clock, the dash basically does not come out. It would take you 2 days to do it. The clock itself should pop out of its spot and be serviceable.
