Question about 2006 Subaru Impreza

1 Answer

I have a 2006 subaru Impreza, regular economy model (2.5i I think)... It was recently towed with the front wheels in the air and the back wheels on the ground. The back wheels rolled smoothly and it didn't look like anything was being damaged and the tow truck driver assured me it wouldn't do any damage. However the manul and everywhere else I've read says to never tow with only two wheels on the ground. The car feels like it drives fine, however I'm not sure if any damage was done or not. Please advise if there is any chance my car could be damaged or if I should take it in to get it looked at.

That rule applies to automatic trans cars only, you did not say what trans you had, in any event if any damage was done the problem would show up right away.

1997 subaru legacy with awd transmission - driveshaft has been removed due to bad u-joints and trans. locked up the front wheels. What do we need to unlock them?

I have a 93 legacy. Subaru's always run in front wheel drive until a sensor tells the computer the front wheels are not turning the same speed as the rear wheels( spining on ice or sand etc.). At that point all wheels will be driven though a clutch to the rear wheels. This is not good if the car needs to be towed with the front wheels in the air! This "all wheel drive" can be shut down for towing. Under the hood on my 93, there is an in line fuse holder on the pass. side of car behind the front strut mount. Open the top of the holder and it will be empty, put in a fuse (10 or 20 amp or close) , this completes a circuit and shuts down the rear wheels. I don't know if the your 97 has this in the same place, but it must have one some place. hope this can help you.

New 2008 Subaru Impreza (5,200 miles!) AT: stuck in "Park" cannot move the gear out of it; I can't move the car! It's under warranty, but before I can take it to the dealer, I need to move the car. What is...

yes it should be under warranty, call your local Subaru service department to verify warranty coverage. if its still under warranty ask the dealership if towing the car would be covered also. it needs to be towed. make sure you tell the tow truck company that its stuck in park and wont move so they can send out the correct tow truck.

2005 Subaru Impreza Corner Indicator Bulb Replacement

the front bumper cover needs to come away from the headlamp, the book says to remove it entirely but you can usually pull it far enough away to remove lamp on either side, this job is easier than you think, remove grille, then remove fasteners from inside each front wheel well, than the black plastic clips that are on the bottom of the cover need to come off then gently pull forward,i guess if your this far i would replace the bulb on the otherside, why do it twice good luck

Right on the top of the mass air intake where the air cleaner attaches. It has a small host running toward the front of the engine and two screws to remove it. Try cleaning it before replaceing it.
