If all the service's where done, tune up, trans service, front end align and so on maybe 10-20,000 miles, one big one how are the brakes? has the timing belt been replaced? At this high of miles you just can't be sure, my Dad had one of these it went 200,000 but then things starting going wrong, timing belt broke, alternator went out, numerous electrical problems, he sold it, it was bankrupting him at the last.

Should I buy honda accord sport or ford fiesta st?

Both good cars, Hondas last far longer. Got a 2006 FRV that has done 175000 miles, 2.2 diesel and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it, it is not mint but is excellent. Aford would not last as long and not be as reliable. Honda is a far better c r. Last car was a mondeo, nice car but was already falling to bits at 75000 miles when we sold it.

Which motor oil to use for the engine? I have been using 10w40. can I switch it/top off with 10w30? My car is a 1991 honda accord ex with 190,000 miles on it. also, its leaking oil through the pan...

10w-40 is going to be slight better for your 190,000 mile engine especially in this warm weather-and it would have a slightly better tendency at resisting leakage, again at higher temps.

004@yahoo.combuying a 1995 grand am with 190,000 miles-what should i look for?

Oil leaks, coolant leaks. Make sure the oil and coolant inside look good. Make sure oil is not burnt. Check axles on car. Make sure the windows, heat, cool, guages, gears, wipers, lights, washer fluid, cruise, trunk pop, hood pop, brakes, brake lights, turn signals, all work. Check it all. This car is 15 years old. Make sure you test drive it and run it like you are in a race. It is important you do, just in case it has something wrong with it. Best wishes.

Dead alternator

are you buying new or remanufater ,how long do they last ,are they covered under warranty ? im sure there are some brands that advertise longer life or have a longer warrenty but with 410,000 miles i dont think your car will last that much longer without something major going out gota think about price vs life expectance you might find a 5year warrenty at 300$ but your car tanks in 1 for example

3800 is a great engine. Good GM vehicle, 93k miles & should be good for that many more miles. Mine has 210k now & no engine trouble. Very little mechanical issues, Good luck

With that many miles and years there are a lot of thoughts. If your tune up parts are old that would be the place to start; making sure there is no fouling of the plugs.

You didn't say which model or engine.
Check for loose heat shields, broken engine or transmission mounts.
