At that mileage every thing is pretty much worn out, I wouldn't touch it with a 50 foot pole.

The light is determined by the odometer. It will stay on every 7,500 miles after being reset. Usually at around 5,000 miles it will start to flash, and the flashing increases the closer you get to the 7,500 mile mark. It doesn't mean anything is wrong at all, as it is strictly a mileage minder. Brian is correct on how to reset it.

When do I have to change a timing belt on a 2002 Acura TL with 59K miles?

Timing chain? When it goes bad. If you're reffering to the belt on the front of the motor, you can wait till it goes bad or change it whenever you want. I would reccomend every 20 to 25 thousand miles.

2000 acura tl wont start. tries to start but just

You definitly have a timing problem. I dont think its a fuel problem due to the age of your car. Its about past due for a timing belt/chain replacement.

you must mean 161000 miles and if you can go 200000 miles and then change, the answer is no!!!. YOUR PLAYING WITH FIRE IF THAT BELT SKIPS OR BREAKS HEAVY ENGINE DAMAGE WILL OCCUR,That belt should be changed ever105,000 miles, you are way over due! sorry for the bad news but these are the facts.

There are two mechanical noises you will hear from an engine, lifter noise, wrist pin slap, and rod bearing noise. The only one that will go away, if at all, with engine warm-up, is lifter noise. All assuming of course, the noise is coming from the engine, and not any of the externally mounted accessories.
Have the oil changed, and continue to change every 2000-3000 miles with a good quality oil, maybe the lifter will clear itself. If it does, maintain the oil changes for the next few changes to assure it is cleaning out.
You might also try adding 1-2 pints Berrymen's Chemtool to the oil 200-300 miles before you plan to change the oil.

thats a lot of miles . I would check to see when the timing belt was last changed and if it is an automatic i would let the car warm up and the pull the tranny stick out and smell the fluid to see if it is burnt but thats a lot of miles and problems will pop up
