95 camry colling fan switch

After checking many different sensors and switched, I FINALLY found that my cooling fan switch on my 95 Camry went bad. I go to the auto parts store and ask for one which had to be ordered but got it in the next day. Went to my car and tried to simply plug it into the wiring to make sure it fit, and it didn't. :( Went back in and told them the two little prongs inside the switch connection went up and down on my wiring but the prongs went side to side on the switch I just bought. After looking through several pictures in their computer, they simply looked at me and said, "Not sure what it is. None of these pictures have prongs like your looking for. Good luck." So here I am not know what the part is or what to do... It is on the bottom of the radiator; I have it unplugged right now so that the fail-safe will make the fans run. If I take out the switch that's in there, I won't be able to drive my only means of transportation. Does anyone know what this is? I have a long trip I have to drive in a couple of weeks, and need to fix it ASAP. Thanks for your help!

The nearest junk yard is about 30-45 minute drive away and I don't want to risk driving that far until after the part is replaced. :( ANy other ideas?

Go to the wreckers, find the one you want & get it out yourself.

If the fans are running constantly with it disconected it should be ok to get you there & back just keep an eye on the temp guage. Your heater won't work very well for the trip though. If concerned drive with the heater on as well & that will act as a little radiator.

SOURCE: 1994 2.2L toyota camry radiator fans do not work

Hi.....

The Normal Temperature Range to the Fan Start is: A/C ON 181 F.
A/C OFF 199 F. When the Engine Reach this Temperature the Fan should start.

OK. Do this simple test.
1---- Start the engine, Desconnect the ECT Switch located on the Radiator,
See if the Fan come ON. If yes, if not go to step #2
Connect the ECT SWITCH and leave the car Running and with a Temperature gage.
See the temperature, if the Temperature go more than 199 F.
Turn the Engine OFF.
Disconnect the ECT sensor and check for Ground at the WHITE/BLACK wire.
If ground exist, Replace the ECT switch.
But if not. Check the wire for any damaged, and the ground at the Front Left Fender.
Repair as need.

2---- check the Fuse link RDI FAN . 30 amp.
Check the Fuse link CDS FAN 30 amp.
Replace if need.
And Return to step # 1.
Check the Radiator fan Relay, Rad fan relay 2 and 3. Replace if need.

Ok. I hope this help on your question.
I can give to you the WIRING DIAGRAM of the Fans, But I need a E-MAIL adress to do that.

Thank you for use fixya....

SOURCE: Code P0401 1998 Toyota Camry

I'm assuming that it is a four cyl.The p0401 code is for insufficient egr flow. Most of the time it is the egr vsv valve (vsv means vacuum switching valve)which is what controls the vacuum to the egr valve to open it.It is kind of hard to get to as it is on the block under the head on the back side.If you follow the hose from the egr valve it goes to the vsv.I have also seen mice eat holes in the vacuum line which would also give you problems.I hope this help and let me know if you have anymore questions

SOURCE: tail light stop working on my 92' toyota camry

In the car trunk, there may be a electrical relay box behind the panel on the left side. It is usually no bigger than 4 inches by 4 inches and yellow in color. This is present in 1987-1991 Toyota Camrys and is generally not in most repair manuals. This yellow electrical relay box may have burnt out. Best place to pick one up at an inexpensive price is at the car wrecking or salvage yard. It is very expensive at the dealer. It is easy to replace with no special tools required. I have done this on my 1991 Camry,

My 95 camry v6 le cooling fan don't go on. RELAY is fine. What to do?? BESIDES taking to a shop.

Coolant temp sensor needs to be tested as well as the fan motor itself. Requires a dvom.

Auto Camry 97 cooling fan is not switching on automatically, the temp gauge shows normal temp. Also both AC and cooling fan works when AC is switched on?

If the temp gauge shows normal, you would not expect the fan to be on much. It is controlled by the coolant temp sensor. If the fan will not come on when the car gets really hot, it is possible this sensor has failed.

It is normal for both AC and cooling fans to be on when you turn on AC to cool setting.

I have a 2000 Toyota camry 4 cyl the car overheated went to check it found out the radiator was bad changed it and cooling temp sender , sensor , thermostat , fan switch , and checked all the fuses and...

For many of the 90's and 2000's Toyota various models - Camry, Tacoma, 4 Runners, Corolla, and some other models overheating is usually caused by temperature sensitive fan switch on the radiator not operating. Electric fan on the radiator should operate when temp above 200 degrees. Less often the control relay 90987-03003 is defective. Check if bubbling in the radiator smells like exhaust. That would indicate a blown head gasket. A jumper wire from your marker light positive to the lower contact in the fan control relay socket will operate your fan when parking lights are on. The larger vehicles with more powerful radiator fans will need a hefty jumper from a headlight positive to avoid overheating the lighting wiring. Make sure the engine is off and warmed up to check the radiator core with your hand to see if it is getting circulation. If it is all cold the thermostat might be stuck.

What would cause my radiator fans not to run

A lot of different things fall into this senario.Low coolant level, air in the cooling system, and a stuck thermostat,or,a bad coolant sensor,or even a bad cooling fan relay,or the cooling fans are bad.Turn the defrost on or the ac,the cooling fans should come on if the fans, and the relay are ok,if so,replace the thermostat, and coolant sensor, and bleed the cooling system of air.

Camry running hot in stop and go traffic.

if the fans are running fine then it's not a fuse. it could be the thermostat going bad. if it continues to happen i would change that.

Engine over heating

Check /replace the cooling fan activation (temperature sensor) switch on the engine.
(Note .. this is a separate temp sensor to that which drives the temperature gauge).

Radiator

Look for:
a bad relay
" " fan
" " " switch
" " temp sensor
a loose, corroded or broken wire at the temp sensor at the bottom of the radiator.
Start with the relay. Buy or borrow a Haynes manual for this car, lotsa pics.
You will need a continuity checker (cheap)
