Question about 1986 Pontiac Firebird
I have a 1986 pontiac firebird if I gas it when i start the car it will turn over but it quickly dies at idle with out gas. the car was running fine last week and now my exhaust is thick black and my car wont go above 30 mph. i think it may be a clogged fuel or air filter how do i check that and how do i clean or replace the filters if this is the case? if it is not this at all what do you suppose it is and how do i fix that?
Check the coolant temperature sensor. The thick black smoke is an indication it is flooding or getting to much fuel. The CTS is critical for fuel metering on start up.
