Air bag dash light stays on

Hi there

Not normal at all. Could be a connection problem at the air bag pre tensioners, the part where your seat belt clips in to when you wearing the seat belt, or could be the hooter ring contact that is not good or the airbag/s has been activated then airbag computer and seatbelt stalks that activated has to be replaced.

Hope this sheds some light.

Regards
Phillip

1993 air bag warning light flashes 10 times, stops, then repeats over and over

10 blinks is a faulty diagnostic module. If available at the dealer it will be hundreds of dollars. You do see these at salvage yards and on eBay but remember you're purchasing the same 25 year old part that you had failed so make sure you can return the item if it doesn't work. Airbag Blink Codes

I recently purchased a 1995 Mazda Miata for restoration and PERSONAL use. It has a rebuilt title and I knew that when I bought it. The air bags were deployed in an accident @ 1000 miles..it now has 23000...

the easiest thing to do is just remove the airbag waring light, if u remove any component then th light is turned on by default, this means if u remove the airbag control module the light goes on, any crash sensor is altered or removed the light is on, so removing the bulb is by far the cheapest and easiest way to go, but as far as the airbag being a vital safety feature I 100% disagree with u, I have been in the bushiness 45 years now, and since Airbags were introduced people walk away from accidents that killed them just years before, this especially true on small cars like the MX3, if the cost to restore the system puts u off there are complete systems avail in the used auto part market. here is a link to one such site.

Airbag light

This is either a problem with one or both of your airbags or the airbag connector located at the back of the glovebox has been disconnected for some reason. (ie. to prevent airbag opening when installing baby seat) (1999 miata does not have a baby seat airbag disabling sensor).

You should get your car inspected at your local mazda service to check if this is a wiring (plug disconnected) issue or one of your airbags is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced.

Flashing airbag light could indicate that either one of the airbags or both have a problem. Disconnecting the passenger's airbag has the same effect.

Warning! Do NOT attempt to do any kind of airbag/airbag wiring related repair yourself. Airbag problems should be addressed ONLY by certified technicians at your local Mazda service. (Airbag fixing requires for example that the car battery is disconnected, you MUST NOT attempt anything with the car battery connected).

Hope this helps.
