I know it says as procedure to do so but it's actually just to remove the piping going to the intercooler. For one I never do remove this part of the pipe to do the job so I never actually remove it. Also if you do want to make all the space you can get to the clamp using a cable type clamp plier. The headlight assembly has 2 bolt screws on top visible and the other 2 are behind the bumper cover holding the lower section. To access these you have to remove the bumper cover. Just be aware TDI timing belts require special locking tools and a scanner to retime the fuel pump. I know of people that don't use these tools but one little bit off your marks and you'll have a big problem. Also if the pump timing is off you'll have starting or running problems.
