Hi it could be the selector plates or a worn gear linkage - worst case would be the clutch or the gearbox has given up, hope this helps

Where is the cabin air filter on a 1996 Mazda B2500

Open the glove box

Remove all of the contents in the glove box

On the right side, dis-engage the rod going to the split plastic pin on the glove box door

Squeeze both other sides of the glove box to defeat the stops that keeps the glove box from falling open

Observe the box in the area vacated by letting the glove box drop down, this is the heater box

Locate a rectangular cover (approx 7 " x 2"), it is located on the face of the box; facing you.

Pull this cover out towards you, the cabin air filter is located in the tray that is connected to this rectangular cover.

High RPM shifting?

seems as if the trans isnt shifting as it should and needs to be checked (could be the shift solenoid not working properly or gears are sticking)

The car seems to be slowing down extreamly fast when im out of gear, its as though i have my handbreak on, and no there isnt a sign on the dashboard so i doubt its somthing to do with the handbreak. i dont...

As long as the gear shift calbe is routed correctly and adjusted correctly you can be sure you have a input spline problem the first sign is hard to engage first gear and hard to engage in reverse the S 40 have known problems for this your dealer should know TSB 43-47

Own 1900 Miata, when driving in 4th gear between 45-60 and release accelerator peddle loud noise sounds tinny until drops below 45 mph then sound lessens.

First understand the basic manual gear operational system
1. gear 1 only for starting
2. Gear 2 at 20km/h
3 Gear 3 at 30km/h
4. Gear 4 works best up to 50km/h - 60km/h
5. engage gear 5 above at 60km/h or more
try this trick principle and see how best your car works

Why does the oil engine light come on when i engage the clutch ?

Hi!

When a car is in gear with the Gas pedal pushed down, the engine RPM is high so the oil pressure is high too that means the Sending unit is detecting high pressure. But when you engage the clutch that means the gas pedal is released so the RPM drops and the pressure drops down too. So all i can say is that you might have a bad oil pump that needs always high RPM to keep the oil pressure normal.

Good luck

Hi. second gear is hard to engage. Dealer sugested using synthetic oil, which I did, got a bit better, but still hard to engage the 2nd gear. Any ideas???

Yes the Dealers dident want to tell you that the answer to your problem is because only the 1 gear is doing it that the 2nd gear scrinco is no good and binding up and has to be changed
That means gear box out and stripped down and a new 2nd gear SCRINCO fitted as it should be like all other forward gears nice and easy.
But if still under warranty then thats why they dident tell you.. let me know how you go Ron
