CAR HEATING VERY SLOW

CAR IS HEATING UP VERY SLOWLY FAN KEEPS ON BLOWING COOL AIR FOR LONG TIME.

I would suspect a couple things. if the engine is not running at correct temp. 195 degrees or so. replace thermostat and recheck. if engine is running at normal temp and is not overheating at all. would suggest flushing heater core to see if helps. if not then heater core replacement may be necessary these ford cars and trucks are notorious for poor cooling/heating systems due to the coolant used

03 Merc. Sable. AC works fine until I slow down in traffic, then it will slowly switch to blowing warm air


Have your a/c condensor fan checked out. It most likely is not working, or is not functioning at full speed. When you are driving air is being pushed through the condensor helping to keep your a/c cold, but when sitting in traffic there is no air flow if the condensor fan is not functioning at full speed.

Over heating problems


Hello,

when the car overheats, is there still water in the radiator?

If there is water in the radiator and the car overheats, then it means there might be some dirt or blockage in the radiator or condenser.

When the car is on the motion, air passes through the front and assists the fan to cool the engine. There are situation whereby air doesn't have free flow because of blockage in the radiator and condenser. Dust and debris can cause blockage. If this be the case, have your radiator washed thoroughly and cleaned.

If there is no water in the radiator when the car overheats, then there is a probably a leakage from the water pump. Or maybe your fan isn't blowing properly. The fan might be blowing weak air.

The above are what could cause your engine to over heat.

So start the check from the radiator. Poor water into the radiator, wait for some minutes, look under the car and observe if water is going to leak. If there is a leak, it might be from the water pump or a leaking hose.

If water from radiator has no leak, have your radiator washed and clean the condenser has they might block air that is suppose to cool the engine.

Also, make sure your fan is blowing properly or well enough to cool the engine.

Make sure you have the above checked thoroughly as they are the major causes of problems like this.

This overheating problem could lead to a burnt gasket and this can dry the engine oil which will eventually knock the engine. So have this problem fixed to prevent further damage that will cost you more money.

Lastly, remove the hose that connects the radiator to the engine, water from the engine will come out. Pour water into the radiator, the water will flow through the hose down to the ground. Do this severally. Now connect the hose back to the engine, pour water into the radiator. Start the engine, the water in the radiator will reduce, add more water till radiator is full.

In summary, the major cause of over heating problem is from the radiator, fan, water pump, blockage in the hose, and dirt in in/on the condenser. These are area you need to concentrate on.

I forgot to mention that the acceleration meter or engine meter on the dash board shouldn't be more the 5. It should be below 5. If it is above 5, it can cause overheating. I hope you understand what I mean.....

Over heating


If your vehical is over heating at idea it is most likely the radiator fan
this can be checked by running the car until it heats up and looking at the fan to see if it is running.
This usually isn't an issue as long as you are driving, but when you stop or driving slow or in traffic it will start heating up quickly. your fan keeps air flow going through the engine while at a stop to help cool down the engine compartment and pull.push air through the radiator

If you still over heat no matter if your driving or stopped it may be a thermostatic radiator valve that went bad. this is a release valve between the radiator and the engine that helps control the coolent flow between the engine and radiator and control how much heat is taken out of the engine to be cooled in the radiator.

So, run the car and see if the radiator fan kicks on. if it does, it's probably not a bad fan. if your car starts over heating and the fan never comes on it's most likely some problem with the fan

if it is turning and you are still having problems overheating go buy a new valve and change it out. cost you at most 5 bucks for a new one (probably less)

It could be the electric fan is going on too easily.
The radiator and hoses should be almost too hot to touch.
And when cold, the fan should not really do on at all.
But the thermostat could be opening too soon also.
There are two hoses to the radiator, and when you start a cold car, only one should slowly get hot.
The other should stay cold until the thermostat opens, after the engine is good and hot.
If both start slowly getting warm at the same time, then you need a new thermostat.
And also make sure you have enough coolant in the radiator.

Fiat seicento 2000 reg keeps overheating after going 5 or so miles, light comes on then grumbling and water from expansion tank. had new radiator switch put on, took fan off and tested-works ok- but not...


This may be a puzzle...
The seicento (I drive the same car) likes to create problems in the heater section of the cooling system. The small pipes to it (behind the carburator) may be blocked or the entire heater may simply be dirty. Flushing the system with a water hose may help. Usually this problem starts slowly and goes away if you re-start the engine and then excellerate a few times. Check if your heater blows hot air - if yes, and if he keeps blowing hot air (does not cool down and get cold) ther is no blockage. If you have a blockage, your heater will only blow hot for a little while and then comes normal cool air - if this is the case, you have a blockage right in your heating system which runs your cooling system hot and the cap of your cooling tank will start leaking. This is a comon problem on older Seicentos....
Other general problems can also be the case, like defective thermostat, fan motor does not come on (check fuse and relais first).
In some cases, ther might be some air trapped in the cooling system and doing the above will also cure it. At last, check if your water pump is working.

I have a 2002 Dodge Ram Quad Cab 4x4. The a/c runs great as long as the truck is moving, but as soon as you come to a stop it starts blowing warm air. Please help.


Generally if the a/c works fine at highway speeds but kicks out or slowly begins to blow warmer and warmer air as the vehicle is driven at slow speeds or is stopped the a/c condensor cooling fan is usually at fault. At highway speeds there is enough air being forced through the radiator, condenser, and oil coolers to keep everything working and cool but when the vehicle is moving slowly or is parked the electric and mechanical cooling fans have to be working to pull enough air through to keep things working. If the cooling fan isn't working or can't pull enough air through the a/c condensor the system will kick out once the internal pressure reaches a certain point. Once the vehicle is moving again the system can get rid of the heat that it has gathered from the passenger cabin, the pressure drops back to normal and the system cools again. I would start by looking for a blown cooling fan fuse in the fuse panel under the hood. Usually they are 25 amps or larger and run only the cooling fan.

the control valve unit behind the dash either broke or stuck. the car has two set of control valves, one for passenger and on for the driver. It common for the unit to fail on all cars some has better luck than others. inside of the valves made out of rubber, over time if it not move regularly it can seized from heat and it get stuck and the motor may have a hard time turning and adjust the valves itself. the only way to get to it and work on it, the dash has to come apart. the part may be cheap if it need it, the bad part is time consuming getting to it and its all mechanic nightmare and the labor will get you. The fan keep coming on, you may have to change the thermostat switch sensor, it could be faulty and not sensing correct temperature causing the fan to stay running. at the same time I would go ahead and have the thermostat it self change, you will have replace that soon or later and you don't want the car leaving you stranded and overheating. by running the heater believe it or not, it also help cool down the the engine a bit. hope that help some

If the A/C knob is not set to 0 at the time ignition was off, the fan could run for a little and then off itself.

Heater blowing cold and over heating


hello , sounds like an air lock in coolant system , drain system and re fill very very slowly , if you think you are filling it slowly enough slow it down even more , also replace thermostat to ensure its opening and closing properly , hope this helps
