Question about 2005 Dodge Magnum

1 Answer

Limp Mode with by power braking.

Smoking the tires on those Ram Hemi Pick-ups look great on TV. So I took my then brand new 2005 out and did just a little power breaking, hold the brake pedal down while giving the gas. No trouble. The next day I start the truck... it's running on about 4 cylinders and the lightning bolt shows up on the dash. Well I had to have the flatbed come and take it back to the dealer. They called and said the truck was in limp mode and it looked like I'd been power braking the truck. That was a little embarassing.
Is there anyway to beat the limp mode. Any recommendation on the various superchip kind of installations?

Jrh_inc,

I'm a parent....and when my child does silly and borderline stupid things with his toys, I take the toys away for a period of time sorta like a time-out from his fun. He then looks for creative ways to prevent getting in trouble again by means of a Toy Superchip that will keep dad's awareness of the violations at bay. Your truck manufacturer (Parent) has done that to you via Safe Mode, and you (like my son), having become a bit street-wiser, look for a Superchip way around it. Obviously, you're entitled to do as you please with the truck, so surprisingly, I support you. Have fun...pay your consequences in full, and someday in the far future when your son power-brakes your sedan...smile in fond recollection and punish him as you should.

By the way, if you want old fashion fun on four wheels, get an old beater with a small engine computer...and make lots of dust and noise over in the next neighborhood...but not mine.

God Bless and keep everyone else safe.

Mike

The transmission is going into limp mode. You need a special scan tool capable of communicating with the transmission control module in order to find out what is causing the problem

P1521 - VRIS Solenoid 1 I have replaced the VRIS (Variable resonance idle solenoid 1).
P0750 - Shift Solenoid A malfunction
There is more than one solenoid in the valve body and to make sure he is replacing the right one. I will say that with an electrical malfunction code---it's usually the wiring or the solenoid----so not a real bad choice. Come to think of it I think there will be 4 solenoids---A,B,EPC and TCC. So he needs to find out which one is the bad one before he goes replacing.

Good luck

When were the fuel filters changed.sounds like you have water in the fuel.Drain the tank and try new fuel after changing fuel filter. If it was in limp mode you would not get the revs droping down then smoke then picking up.Limp mode only alows you to do about 40mph.

I just took mine to the auto part store to find out. From what they told me its the little box on top of the Hemi Engine cover. They said I have to go to the dealer to get the part though.
