Stalling excessivly and rough idle

Occasional surging at a stop main problem is stalling alot and idling very odd.the car can b in park and you can give it just a little gas and the engine will start to race with a loud humm and sucking noise then will eventually stall and then restarted it will idle up and down about 4 to 8 times then stall again.im a mechanic of 13 years and have never heard a vehicle make the noise this car makes.the check engine light never gets triggered either witch makes it very difficult to track.this is also my personal vehicle and is in absolute mint cond.68,000 mi. im thinking either throttle position sensor, idle control sensor or the idle control valve but it could b anything

I've had this exact problem for the last 3 months, but can't figure it out! Trying to explain the "vacuum" noise when the engine starts to rev up is pretty hard to explain! If anyone has a fix, I'm anxious to know! Thanks!

Occasional stall/surge and mild to rough idle.

It is impossible to answer your oddly vague question without knowing the YEAR, MAKE, MODEL, AND ENGINE of your vehicle, and further details on the nature of the issue, including under what conditions it occurs.

Idles roughly, then low when stopped or in park, then dies. Decreasing gas mileage. Slow to accelerate

Sometimes that's caused by a vacuum leak near the manifold area.

Sometimes air in the coolant will cause an idle problem. Air will keep the air temp sensor from sending proper info.
Hope this helps.

your carburetor should have a fuel filter in the carburetor body where the
fuel line enters it replace it and, any other in-line fuel filter the engine might have

Rough idle in park occasionally and while driving seems to shutter has stalled a few times

Your ignition coil might be bad. If it is happening after it rains, check the distributor for moisture. My ignition coil went bad on my 98 jetta.

If you replace the ignition coil, it runs rough for a little bit and it needs to sync. Just drive it around a little bit and it should steady out. If it doesn't take it to a mechanic.

Good luck.

Dies when idling, does better with a/c on, but still dies

this is your problem:

Here are the most common causes of surges, stalls at stops, low erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake

1990 Ford Probe 2.2 automatic stalls in forward, reverse OK

Sounds like a bad IAC (idle air control valve/sensor) that controls your idle when going from throttle to idle. If bad your idle will act crazy and can cause stalls easily. Pretty sure that's it.
