I believe if the door lock uses the same key it might be simpler to remove the door lock as most cars have an anti theft type bolt that holds the ignition switch on. If you choose you can get the ignition
switch off if you can access the bolts with a hacksaw blade. Just cut a slot in the head for a flat screw driver. Then you can remove the bolt.

My key does not turn the ignition what could be the problem

Sounds like either your ignition is wearing out or your key is wearing out. First try another key, if it does the same thing it may be your ignition wearing out. If it seems like your key is bad, go to dealer with your car ownership papers and they can cut you an original key. If your key is wearing there is no sense having another one cut from it, you must get the dealer to cut one for you. If this still does not work, I'd say it's an ignition problem.

Ford explorer , car keys replacements. I have lost my ignition / alarm keys and need inexpensive replacements please. Thank you in anticipation David Byrne

I think you can use the sbb key to pro for a new key.
Before running SBB key programmer, you need insert the blank new key into your car keyhole;turn on ignition switch;Insert SBB 16-pin interface into your car OBD2 diagnostic seat. SBB key programmer copies chip according to car model.

I lost my key for an 98 ford explorer and i just got a key made but wont trun the locksmith made a key from the door lock we put it in the ignition but it wont trun

There should be 8 cuts total on the key. While the door and the ignition share some of the same cuts you cannot get all the cuts from one cylinder. I believe that the door cylinder only uses 6 cuts and the ignition cylinder uses 7 cuts. The cut closest to the head of the key is #1 and the cut closest to the tip is #8. If I remember correctly the ignition cylinder uses cuts 1 - 7 and the door cylinder uses cuts 3 - 8.If the locksmith cannot decode the ignition cylinder you can try to contact you local ford dealer and see if they can find a key code and cut a key from that otherwise you may have to replace your ignition cylinder.

I need a ignition key code 5 the ignition does not fit the vin numbers so how can i get the right key

CHECK WITH A LOCKSMITH IN YOUR AREA! THEY CAN USUALLY DO AN IMPRESSION CUT KEY, OR MAY BE ABLE TO CUT A CODE KEY WITHOUT THE VIN!

The key gets stuck in the ignition sometimes it turns and other times it doesn't. could it be the transponder?

The first thing to check is to carefully examine the ignition key. If it is worn down, or even slightly bent, get a new key cut. If you don't have a key in good shape to copy from, your Toyota dealer can cut one, if they know your VIN number. If your key looks good, the most likely suspect is your ignition lock cylinder. You can try lubing it with a little graphite lock lube, but no WD-40 or anything!

I can start the car and then pull the key out and the car still runs. Just had the "ignition cahnged" any suggestions 2001 intruge olds

Sounds like your key is worn out. The sharp cuts on the head of the key wear out over time causing the ignition to lose "grip" on the key allowing it to be pulled from the ignition. Try using a new spare key or have a new key made. If the key is coded you may need to have the dealer cut and program a new key for you.

My 1999 Chevy Blazer has a key for the ignition and a key for the doors. I lost the only key I had for the doors. Although I can use the clicker to get in, can I get a replacement key for the doors, how...

depends on which key was original==an original key can be cut but are the doors original or ignition vin number will be used to look up key cut code or check with a certified locksmith some of them work with the dealers for key problems

Have had 4 keys cut for my '02 gm x-cab & they fit the door, but don't turn in the ignition very easily. do I need factory gm keys (because of a chip or what?)

No, the chip will not cause you not to be able to turn the ignition. The new keys need to be worn down a little to work properly. Over time keys wear down and stop working right. New keys cut in a automatic key maker are normally too "high" for the tumblers in the lock making it hard to turn. You can add graphite to your ignition which should make it easier as your ignition becomes used to your new keys. You can find graphite at Autozone for about 4 or 5 dollars.
