Have you checked the Throtle position sensor it could be sticking when its cold, or the fuel pump could be going out on it the float might stick.

I give the same answer to everyone with these symptoms. Have your battery checked for specific gravity and load test. When weather starts to get cold this is a common problem. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

2002 VW Jetta 1.8T has a leak somewhere.Need diagram

Bring the car into a repair shop and have them pressure test it for leaks or you can purchase a pressure tester make sure you get the appropriate adapter for your cars radiator filler neck or resovoir, and check for leaks yourself. Make sure the car is cold and there is the appropriate mixtiure of coolant and water in the system, prior to pressure testing. Also do a visual inspection of the cooling system when the vehicle is cold and look for leaks.

How to find a shortage on a vw jetta 2002

If you live where it is cold, your battery may need to be replaced . They will discharge with the cold during the night. Try changing the battery or checking your curent one. Install a known good battery that you know is fully charged, start the car and then turn it off leaving it for the night. If it does not start in the morning then you know it is not the battery. More than likely the alternator or regulator.
