Question about 2004 Nissan Sentra
My trunk release from inside my car and also my remote trunk release will not pop open my trunk. It sounds like it wants to open when I hit the button, but it won't. The only way to open it is with my key.
Check for broken wires running from the body to the trunk lid through the rubber boot. When the trunk is closing you can see the kink in the rubber boot. There are 11 wires to supply 1 solenoid so I think Chrysler knew there was problem.

SOURCE: Inside trunk release won't open
1. Open trunk
2. Place latch in lock position
3. Pull inside trunk release to see what isn't moving
4. If trunk key won't turn, the key may be worn out and need to be replaced

SOURCE: Can't "pop" open the trunk
take the remote apart and take the battery and get it matched and replace it you can do this at walmart or a battery store.. youalso need to check the fuses because if the trunkdoesnt open and the fuel door does . there on the same fuse and it could be a more serious problem .. try cleaning out the lock cylinder on the trunk it is exposed so it will get dust and dirt and water in it..
