Question about 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
2000 Silverado. Was driven yesterday, about 400 kms. was fine. Has been running great. Was parked last night. This morning it would fire and turn over but then stall. Won't run. Was left parked all day today in case it had been flooded. Tonight it still has the same problem. Put in some gas line antifreeze this morning after it wouldn't run because weather is cold. Didn't make any difference when trying to start it after work tonight. Is it likely to be the fuel pump or a sensor related to it? Is there something simple I can do to narrow down the cause or should I just have it towed to a garage tomorrow? It did a similar thing last yr. and it turned out that the altinator was shot. The dealer repaired it. How would I know whether this is the problem again?
Same problem with 2 of my chevy trucks. most current is a 2000 1 ton with the 7.4. dealer finally identified the problem, blown diaphram on the fuel pressure regulator which then when truck is turned off, fuel pools into the intake, and open cylinders causing it to seem like it is flooded and start stall due too all of the fuel in the system. Sensors cant handle it. long story short, I learned the hard way and had already had the dealer change fuel pump. 800 bucks later the problem was still there, 50 part, problem gone.

When you cut the key on do you hear pump run for a few seconds? if not then it is probably pump. try beating on tank with your hand while someone spins over. sometimes this will shake the pump and it will kick in. if this is case then you will still need pump because it WILL happen again. let me know
