Take off the under-board so that you can see the entirety of the underside of the dash. Put the driver's seat down, and all the way back, and lay backwards on it so that you're looking at the underside of the dashboard. [You should see the fuse box to your right, looking upwards] About a foot to the left of the fuse box should be the directional flasher, hidden behind a bar that runs horizontally across. It's connected to a piece of metal and two wires.

Turn signal light and hazard not working. how to replace flasher

Hi, First check that a light bulbs are not burned out. This has an effect on the system. Second, The flasher units are under the dash and there are 2 different systems. 1 is the emergency flasher unit. 2 is the signal flasher unit. You may have to replace them both. If no lights are working there maybe a short in the wiring. If you are good with using a multimeter you can find the problem. Good luck

Where is the flasher unit for 1999 mercury mountaineer?

It's the same flasher unit for both turn signals AND emergency flashers. Even though one side works, the other won't. If you have a good fuse for the turn signals, then replace the flasher unit.

Both my right & left turn signals aren't working but hazards are

If you can locate the hazrd flasher unit under the dash on the drivers side, the turn flasher unit should be right beside it and looks the same. Unplug and switch the 2 flashers and see if the turn signals work. The flasher unit is a silver and round. they are usually close to the stering colum. Let me know if that helps.

I got an 88 ford thunderbird for my first car just recently, but the turnsignals dont work, the fourways work and they click as well, but the turnsignals do nothing, not even click. The fuel gauge, the...

The owners manul has a layout of the fuses, Ford is bad about not labeling their fuse boxes. check all the fuses, get a test light and learn to use it. with a test light, you can check every fuse in minutes without taking them out., and also that they are getting power in the first place. See if you can find the "turn signal flasher" since the 4 way flashers work, you know all the wiring and bulbs are good, thats a good thing you checked. the flasher may be at the fuse box, or put the 4 ways on and fing the clicking flasher, it should look just like the 4 way flasher. you can even swap them and see if the turn signals start working.

1993 Dodge Shadow...left turn signal won't flash

If the fuses are good and the front and rear bulbs are good, change the flasher for the turn signals, even tho the right is working. If that doesn't fix the problem, it might be in the turn sgnal switch on the steering column.
If both bulbs are good for the backup lights and fuses are good, then the backup light switch, which is screwed into the side of the transmission has to bad.

1991 Ford E150 turn signals do not work, emergancy flashers flash constantlly unless the flasher relay is unplugged from fuse block

Hi,

If I understand you right based on your post/description, the signal lights would still turn on even if any or both of the flasher relays are removed. Should this be the case, then the signal lights are not getting the power from the flasher relays but from the brake light circuit.

Perhaps your concern is not with any of the flasher, but simply missing or loose ground more particularly with the rear lights. Perhaps you could try determining which of the wires for the brake lights and signal lights (as they come out of the light assembly) would be ground . A test and even possibly a temporary workaround is to hard wire a second ground connection from the determined ground wire of the lights and attach it to any conveniently located bolt or screw to the body. it may be to your advantage to do this on all the rear lights assembly.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
