If it is the same belt then you have routed it incorrectly or it is not all the way in the pulley grooves, check the belt routing 1st.

I'm having problems changing Alternayer belt? Is there a trick to getting to the bottom front bolt the alternater?

I'm not sure if this is right but it worked for me. Unloosen the bolt in the center of the idler pulley. you will need to get to it from under car. once loose it seems to slide to loosen belt. Put tension on idler pulley (to tighten belt) when tightening center bolt. Hope it works for you

Where is alternator located on 1996 cadillac deville? how do you replace alternator on 1996 cadillac deville?

The alternator will be located in the front of the engine on the drivers side. To replace it you must loosen the idler pulley and remove the serpintine belt, once the belt is off you must unhook any wires goin to the alternater and then there are two bolts at the bottom of the alternater holding it in place. Remove those and the alternater is loose then it may take some jockying back and forth to get it out. Obviously at this point the new one can go in the same way the old one came out.

I have a 96 Chevy Cav. Looks like I have a fairly significant oil leak on the front side of the engine (belt side). It's losing approximately 1/2 quart of oil every 250-300 miles or so. It looks like it's...

Sounds like the front seal is out. You may have to take the engine out of the car to fix it. It requires removing the harmonic balancer to get to the seal.

1996 Chevy Cav. When i put key in to ignition,

Hi Jamie,
As you turn the key, **** the steering wheel hard side-to-side. The anti-theft interlock between the ignition switch and the steering is just jammed. Happens to all cars from time-to-time, and that's the fix.

1996 Chevy Cavalier

your car does not have a timing belt it has a chain. but yes if the pump is driven by timing belt and it starts leaking the coolant gets on belt and it will fail. if your car has the 2.4 engine the water pump runs off of the timing chain and depending on mileage it would be smart to go ahead and replace it since it will be tore down anyway will save on labor

Wires to 1996 chevy cav starter

Most chevy cars have 3 wires. I main wire that comes from the battery. Another a little smaller wire that goes to the same post in the center of the starter solinoid. And 1 small wire that goes to the smaller threaded post on the side.
