Question about 2002 Jaguar X-Type

1 Answer

Dsc system Hello, My 2002 X-Type Jaguar transmission was rebuilt at a transmission shop. Once my car was completed by the shop there was DSC system light on in the information center. Because the shop wasn't a Jaguar dealer. I was told that they couldn't clear the light. Now when the car is driven, turned off & restarted the car doesn't engage into drive correctly unless the DSC system light comes on. There is a short pause & ratcheting feeling before the DSC system light comes on. What could be the cause of this problem, and how should it be corrected? Thank you.

I have an XJR 2002 the warning light DSC has come on what does it mean?

DSC means "Dynamic stability control" it is caused by some kind of failure in the ABS/Stability control system, it all one system. You will need to seek a dealer out to find out the exact cause of the warning

Suddenly entered 'limp home' mode. ENGINE SYSTEM FAULT, DSC NOT AVAILABLE, PARKBRAKE FAULT messages. Reset with ignition of-on, then they all came back after 5 minnutes.

Hi,

The limp mode is activated when your transmission fluid is overheating.

British cars have their transmission with that safety system.

Check the fuse "transmission", in your fuse box, it might have been blown already.

You coud go to your nearest dealer to check on that and scan your computer for errors.

Hope that helps you out!

Thanks for using Fixya!

Most likey the ABS module took a dive. If all the fuses are ok you will need to get this diagnosed professionally.

DSC fault on display, car stops complete electrical failure.

Hi Jagman

I suspect this could be your battery at fault.

Get it heavy discharge tested first.

Good Luck.

Speedometer not working

speedometer get speed signal from ABS. ABS and DSC are two functionality in same ECU.
You shall read faults from ABS/DSC ECU.
Most frequently, there are problems with speed sensors on wheels.
With ignition on, you shall measure voltage on both wires (- pole of voltmeter shall be connected on vehicle ground). You will see one sensor without voltage supply. This will sensor with problem. you can, for check, change sensors on same axle (left and right).
Switch ignition off, and on.
If voltage supply missing will go on another side (with faulty sensor), you will be sure that is problem is sensor.
