The 4wheel high ano low lights on the dash flash some times when driving

There are many vehicles which notice same issue with 4wd not engaging in low or high mode.I suggest you few help links related to these issue,with there troubleshooting details and solutions.

4 wheel drive lights flashes but then returns to 2wheel drive -- some time it will lock in 4w low but both 4w hi and 4w low lights are on --- have new tccm module.

It is the shift motor for the 4wheel drive - only problem is that a shop has to program the new shift motor to the blazer or it will keep doing the same thing

Slips out of gear when in 4WD

Check the oil level in the shift on the fly (sotf) part of the axle thats the left of the front one - it holds about 1 pint of gear oil and gets missed at service time .

Just crawl under it and replace the two hall sensors on your transfer case im about 90% sure thats the problem

4x4 high should not blink for more than ten seconds unless you engaged it going faster than 45MPH. Then it will blink until you get down under that speed.

4x4 low will blink continously until you stop and put the ****** in neutral so the transfer case can change ratios.

If it never stops blinking it's either not making it into 4x4 or the sensor that detects the transfer case is in 4x4 is broken.

In either case it means a trip to the dealer. Should be cover under warranty.

The signal that activates the light for your 4 wheel drive comes from a switch on the transfer case. The problem could be with the switch or the wiring in the system. It does not necessarily mean there is a problem with the T-case, but that is only one possible scenario.

the light is letting u know there is an electrical control fault in the 4 wheel drive engagement motor on the transfer case, the Ford dealer has the special scanner to test this system and determine the exact cause of the light.

If fuses 11, 28, 29, 30 and 111 are all good and with the 4h & 4L indicators working at key on cluster self test, the only thing to check is the IWE ( Integrated Wheel Ends ) on each side for a vac leak, and that the vent is free of obstructions. ( vent is for the locked to unlock operation ).

Other wise the only place for the problem is with the Cluster itself. From your description the PCM is reading the ESOF switch change to 4H or 4L, and it shifts correctly, this leaves the return signal over the CAN bus to the cluster to turn the indicator lamps on.
This is why the check the check of IWE operation, the PCM might not be getting the indication that the front wheels are locked ?

Else the Cluster needs to be checked with a WDS ( Worldwise Diagnostic System ) tool at a dealer or higher end mechanic.
The Vehicle Communications Module needs to be installed to do the tests on the cluster.

Might be worth the time to check IWE operation ( mechanical and the vac operation ) prior to spending the cash.
