Question about 1994 Pontiac Bonneville

1 Answer

1994 bonneville misses especially at speed and acellerating

When I first got the car it only missed on hills at higher speeds and putting it into the second drive gear it worked ok. Now it misses almost all the time unless it's in town at slow speed.

Good chance you may have a bad coil, you can check by disconnecting the plug wires at the coil to see if your getting any spark, if your not seeing any spark when car is running your coil is bad. be sure to do disconnect the plug wire when engine is not running and key is off!
New coils run around $26.00 easy to change out, you only need a nut driver, 2 small bolts.

I would go with the well known COP Ignition Coils
being bad,one or several

Could also be an EGR issue if uphills & vacuum is involved

I would replace the spark plug cables first. Remember to route the plug wires exactly as the factory did and replace any broken wire loom holders.

My truck has a miss. cutting out real bad on the hwy at higher rate of speed with a load on it especially. I have put new plugs, plug wires, cap and rotor, and air filter on it. the old rotor had an arc...

I would also change the igntition coil if you have not done that already. Have you changed the fuel filter? I would change the fuel filter, if you have a clogged filter thenit may run good at idle and less load conditions but when you call for more fuel during hard excelleration or at highway speeds the engine will not get enough and it will lean fire and buck and miss.
