Take it to your local dealer,The noise you described if it sounds like a loud groaning its the rear suspension bushes,They will replace the F.O.C with modified bushes....common fault on X-Type.
Just describe it like you did.
They usually do it in a morning, especially if it was raining the night before, then reverse and they groan...Nothing dangerous tho, just annoying...hope this helps

Steering wheel stuck and key wont turn

One of the things is a lock-out switch on the brake pedal lever. Some are coordinated with the gearshift, the Keyswitch, and the starter Relay. Check to see if the brake lights work when you press on the brake pedal. If no signal is going to the brake lights, then there is a chance that the Park shift lever, the steering wheel and the Keyswitch are bound up.

Sometimes a steering wheel is at the extreme reach of the travel in the front suspension. This can sometimes happen in cold weather when the car is sitting on ice or snow. When the ice or snow melts, the front tires settle into a position that puts pressure on the steering wheel and loads Torque up the steering column. Another possibility is that the car was bumped in the Parking lot and jammed into a position creating Torque on the steering column.

Last, the tumbler inside the Keyswitch could have fallen apart and that is why the mechanism is not releasing the steering wheel.

There are adjustments in the Keyswitch to be at the correct position to work with the lockout at the bottom of the steering column.

Hivi have a 2001 dodge ram pick up 2wd my back tires wont turn to go in reverse at all now to remind you in mi its been two or thre degrees below outside I was wondering what could be my problem I drove it...

Anything is possible in cold weather. BY driving earlier the transmission oil would have warmed up so the reverse should have worked. I'm thinking that may be from applying the park brake that the brakes are frozen to the drum/disc from the water / snow

2002 Chevy SC1 1500. 64,000 miles. Went to put in reverse, engine made a clunk sound and then whined. Now reverse will not work but just whines when put in that gear. Drive works normally. Any ideas?

Are you sure you have all the forward gears?(4speeds ,three shifts)This is a common problem with this transmission and it is almost always a broken reaction shell. The shell brakes due to a diagnostic code setting and putting the trans into a high pressure setting and braking the shell. It is possible that you have a problem n the reverse input clutches but this is rare.Eithe rway the transmission will need to be removed and diasssembled.Good luck and let me know if I can help.

I went to leave my house this morning i put it in Reverse and it wouldn't move unless i gave it a lot of gas. Then the ABS light and the traction control light came on and stayed on and a message popped up...

well great minds think alike and i want to know why you put the parking brake on in such severe weather when just leaving vehicle in park will do ,never use this brake if vehicle is left for any length of time also when so cold ,its automatic and has a park which locks the drive wheels .or if manual leave it in gear either first or reverse

I would first check and see if you have a build up of off ice on the inside of the wheels. If this started all of a sudden it might also be a brake problem like I have run into in the last few weeks of bad weather. The duel caliper brakes had one caliper piston stick and let the brake pad be uneven causing a vibration in the front end. Sometimes it would release and work fine. Hope its the ice in your wheels, but if not I would take a look at brakes before spending a lot of money. Good luck and have a good day.

Abs light came on in my 2003 chevy venture

If there is snow and ice building up around the wheel speed sensors, yeh, that would make the light come on.

Won't go into reverse this morning

reverse requires more hydraulic pressure to hold it in reverse. Maybe you have a partially plugged filter that the thicker, cold fluid can't get through. The whirr could be the pump in the trannie being dtarved for fluid due to being plugged. Otherwise, you may have a bad clutch or band for reverse that requires a trans overhaul. good lcuk.

Drove home in a snow storm now have brake lights and tire pressure monitoring light

Could be a dirty or snow packed ABS sensor made brake light come on, not 100% sure on yur vehicle. Tire pressures will lower when colder, perhaps all related to snow & cold . If in garage, let it warm up & melt some snow & maybe yur troubles will disappear. I would check tire pressures regardless, they may have been borderline low, and cold caused it to go low enough to trip monitor.
