1992 chrysler lebaron convertible v6 3.0 Radiator problem

I have a problem with my Chrysler Lebaron I believe it's the radiator but would like a second opinion. I had to re thread a spark plug hole on it recently and after it hasn't run very well sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't it overheats and there seems to be a lot of smoke coming out of the engine.

When I popped the hood to look I noticed the fan had not come on and that the car had overheated very quickly before it had started to smoke. Before this had happened it had been running fine for over an hour.

I brought it to a mechanic and asked him to check the head for me it was close to his closing so he just checked the head and told me it was fine.

Anyone have any idea what this could be caused by? I'm sure it's the fan but I'm worried there could be a more serious issue along with it.

    It has a carburettor. the temperature gauge is going all the way to the red. the car is overheating when i Drive it but not when it is idle. I only used water in the radiator because it is leaking to much to keep putting in antifreeze. I had my mechanic check the water pump he said it is ok. I think it may be the sensor I'm not sure how to fix it but I will find out and check that asap.

    It was not the sensor though while I check I rechecked the fuses and relays and noticed that there were 2 for the radiator fan and 1 relay the relay got power but the fuses are not getting any so I am going to replace them and see if that was the problem. The leaking has stopped too since I put some stop leak in it because it was just a small pinhole leak in the radiator.

    The fuses were not the problem I replaced them with new ones and they are getting power but the fan is still not turning on.

    It ended up being the radiator and a leaky hose near the bottom of the block.

Have this car fuel injection ore carburettor?Are the electrik fan on the radiator? What are the temratur gauge showing whwn the engine overheat? are the car overheating when you drive? If the are el fan , you must check if the fan get 12v when the engine are warm. If you not get 12 v you must check the sensor som start the el fan.
Another things coul be the water pump, ore the termostat. Did you use glykol (anti freze) ore only water on the radiator?

    The sensor for the fan should stay on the radiator , it shall be 2 wired to the sensor , if you find the sensor you can takke of the plug and put a conect to the plug betwen they two wires , then the fan shall start. Another thing are on the fan , takke of the plug and conect one wired from negative pole and one from positive pol to the wired on the fan , the fan shall start. Then you can try to drive , so you can se if the fan are the problem. If the car not overheat the are the fan. if the engine still get warm is a another problem. And you must stopp the leaking , because you get air in the colant system to the engine .

    can you check the plug on the fan , and se if you get 12v there. And check if the are some corisjon on the contact on the fan.If the are the (use elektroclean on spray). Another fault could be the brushes in the fan engine.You can try to put 12 v from the battery to the fan engine.And if it start it are ok , if not you must check the fan engine and maybe replace it with a new one.

Where is the cooling fan temperature sensor on a 1993 Chrysler lebaron?

The LeBaron uses the Coolant temperature sensor data for both the engine control and the radiator fan control. The PCM sends a closure signal to the Radiator Fan Relay when it wants the cooling fan to run. There is no separate switch for the fan itself.

Drain plug on 1992 chrysler lebaron

water drain, lower edge of engine block just above the oil pan surface nearer to back of engine, and is lower portion of side of radiator

oil drain, lower portion of oil pan

torque converter drain, found through a round cut out in flywheel

you must specify what you are wishing to drain

Replace radiator

Disconnect top and bottom hoses when engine is cold. Take out 4 bolts that hold on fan cowling and remove. Take out 4 bolts holding in radiator and remove. Install in reverse order, fill with your desired coolant and you are done.

Find radiator leaks on chrysler lebaron not coming from hoses

We can not find a leak over the internet

You will have to get involved & find it

On a 20 year old car,I doubt the radiator
is original. Even if it was,I would replace that,
even if it wasn't leaking,& go from there

Have you checked the water pump?

That Fuse/relay is located on the driver side of the car under the hood in a black rectangular box. when you open it if you are facing the car from the front it is the relay that is all the way to the left above the two 20 amp fuses. just pull that out and checker or autozone should have a replacement part that is between 10 and 20 dollars i believe checker/schucks/Kragen has the part cheapest though. could be based on your area.

The heat is made in the engine so if the engine is overheated and nothing else is hot, the water is not moving.
I would have suspected a thermostat also.
I would guess now that you have a dead water pump.

How do i flush the radiator on a 94 chrysler lebaron

You must dispose of the antifreeze properly.The simplest method is to install a garden hose connector to the heater hose connect the garden hose to the connector.Run the engine with heater on and flush the system until the water is clear.You must open the radiator drain valve and the bleed valve at the water pump
