    3.0 engine v 6

    after removing the rotor cap and engaging the engine the rotor does not turn, is this because the timing belt needs replacing?

    What engine, also if you get this wrong you can damage the engine, buy a service manual.

    Yes this is a broken timing belt, when the belt breaks like this it usually bends the engine valves, but u might get lucky, won't know until the belt is replaced is any engine damage has occurred..

Nissan recommends replacement of the timing belt and water pump at 84 months or 105K miles whichever comes first. ALWAYS replace the water pump at the same time as the timing belt or you will be out the same amount of labor in 2-3 months when the pump goes bad after the timing belt replacement.

that engine is built by nissan believe it or not. look on the net for your van or a nissan maxama. I just googled it and found lots of diagrams for that van(95 mercury villiger 3.0 timing belt diagram. I would not only replace the belt, I would replace it using a timing belt replacement kit.If your going to keep the van.

Need to change CV Joints.


Not bad hardest part is removing nut on hub after removing tire. large socket for that nut may be required.
