Question about 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

Where is the Oil Pressure Sending Unit 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4L

I'm just clueless as to where to find this. The Service Manual cleverly
does not tell you where it is located. I know I need to replace it, I just
can't find it. 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4 Liter 6 Cylinder.

I have an intermittant Check Gauges alarm and gauge drops to 0,
car has o/p and runs fine. Just want to fix the lovely alarm.

Thank you....

The sensor is located right above the oil filter, careful they crack very easily...but are really easy to replace...

How to change oil pressure sending unit on jeep grand cherokee laredo 2000.

First things first do you have a repair manual? If you don't have one get one, Changing the unit is realitively simple, you just disconnect the battery, disconnect the oil pressure sending unit's electrical connector, remove the sending unit, now most sending units are small and look like a short chubby spark plug with an electrical blade connector on the end of it. simply use a wrench to loosin and remove and install by screwing in and tightening and reconnecting the electrical connecter then the battery and your as good as new!

If the oil pressure is good and there is no engine noises then the oil pressure sending unit is the problem.Just replace it and you should be good.Hope this helps.Good luck.

I have a 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee (4 L) with 225,000 miles. When idling and engine hot, oil pressure guage drops to zero. Any way to tell if it is the pressure sensing unit or not?

ook up a external pressure guage where the sending unit is you will know forsure. with the milage i would guess that the oil pump may be the prblem or to much clearance in yhe bearing.
