How do I know if my Chevy Malibu has remote entry capabilities
I recently purchased a 2004 Chevy Malibu from a dealer. He only gave me a door key and when I asked him about remote entry he told me he didn't have one. It seems I have everything on this car and would be surprised if it didn't have remote entry. It also seems that when I read about the 2004 Malibu it always talks about the remote entry. Is there a way I can know for sure and if so, how do I purchase a remote entry device for the car and program it?

Many times the dealer gives you a valet key made to give to the vet to park your car, these keys work even though the theft deterant system is active, but they will only work for short periods untill the theft system activates and imobolizes the vehicle. The system is reset when the valet brings your vehicle and you insert your normal (chiped) key.
sometimes the key fob gets worn out due to being used constantly it may need to be replaced.sometimes they may need to be reprogrammed with the entry module and sometimes the entry module has a problem and needs to be replaced.the only way to find out is to take it to a shop that has the capability to do this work or the dealer.
you need to call the nearest chevy dealer with you vin, and get the part number from them, there are 2 numbers on the back of the remote, see if they match what the dealer tells you. Have an automotive locksmith program, should cost about 75.00 to do.
