Any idea what the fuel problem is? If I put fuel directly into the carb it will fire. Has new fuel pump.

Is it fuel injected or carb??? If it is carb try using starting fluid to see if it will fire. If it does you have a fuel problem.

My 86 ranger keeps shutting down It has good fuel pressure New fuel pumps Will turn on then shut down What's going on? Could it be the distributor ?

Good fuel pressure from the pump is fine, at the pump. But if it can't flow constantly it WILL shut down. Have you though about changing the fuel filter? even a dirty fuel filter will allow enough fuel to the engine to allow it to run for a few seconds or so. When that little bit is gone, can't get enough to still run.

I think you are on the right track. It sounds like you have a fuel flow problem and those are the two items that immediately come to mind. I would start with the filter and then move on to the fuel pump if there is no change.

sounds to me that the ecm, or tps, is going bad this controls the way the engine reacts more or less you have a high speed fuel problem. will not be injector problem. tps -[throttle position switch] controls fuel in carb

99 blazer, cranks but no start, pour gas in intake and it starts

well if its a 1999, it wont have a carb, it has fuel injection.take your fuel filter off and clean it or put a new on one, that should fix the problem. check your hoses too.
