Question about 1990 Chevrolet Camaro

3 Answers

When I start the car my idle is at 1900RPM and it doesnt go down to 900rpm as usual. This has been happening for the last 2 days. Its a 1993 Camaro with a manual transmission. I thought it may be the Air conditioning high idle but the air is off. Could this be a sensor problem?

Yes it could be a sensor but you might want to look for a vac leak also.

It was the Throttle Position Sensor. Put a new one in and the idle went back to normal....

Well the car is ment to idle at 500rpm so it may need a tune up also get the auto chock readjusted as it may have shifted a little given its age

1993 Ford explorer.Began idling rough and surging

The test connector is in a holder at the back bottom of the fuse/relay box on the passenger side fender well. There are 2 parts to it: the main connector and the ground, you will need both connected to the diagnostic tool to get the codes.
Check your IAC (Idle Air Control) valve on the side of the intake. These get carbon fouled and tend to stick causing high rpm for extended times. Also the EGR valve should be checked (under the intake) as it will cause rough idle or stalling near idle.

1993 3.4l camaro Idles fine when first started. After a few seconds it idles rough and rpm drops. No power when driving. RPM will not go above 3000 even if floored when driving.

there are a few reasons to ur problems 1st check and or replace fuel filter -check and or service egr valve -carbon usually builds up in and around valve causing rough idle -no power and can cause non start problem ---also air filter - fuel pump-bad gas -timing skip-pcv valve-catalytic converter clogging these are some of the problems usually one of the first 2 is the problem good luck

2003 toyota highlander. when starting it wont maintain idle.

Try to adjust the idle of the truck because there is a possibility the idle is low and if still not work put the gear in neutral and then start it and step on the gas pedals for 20 sec.
