Question about 2004 Ford Mustang

2 Answers

Battery Light I have a 2004 Mustang GT and about a week ago my battery light came up and it started to die on me. When it is just idling in park it is okay for a little bit but then as soon as I turn on anything like the heater/ac or my lights the meter slowly goes down until it finally dies. I replaced the battery and tried it out but it was still doing the same thing. I had replaced the alternator a few months back so I am hoping it is not that. Any help??? Thanks.

Your alternator depens on what you have in your car, all electic or not. Most have 85 to 105 amps; the auto store can tell you.

You probably need a new alternator and battery. If you have a DMM (Digital Multi Meter) Check the Charging system voltage at idle, it should be around 13.2 volts or above for a properly working Alternator. The battery voltage with the car off should be at 12.6 volts for a good battery. Check and replace as neccessary.

2004 Nissan Altima 3.5L BATTERY LIGHT went on during 15 minute drive. Next day car "died" while idling after a 20 minute drive. BRAKE WARNING LIGHT & BATTERY LIGHT on prior to full electrical failure.

Start with checking the alternator voltage with a multimeter. With the car off check the voltage in the battery which should be holding 12v charged less if flat of course then start the car and test the battery again. If the alternator is good you should be getting a reading of 14 to 14.5 v if it's the alternator it'll A) not put any charge into the battery or B) be a very low voltage being anything under 13.5 v

04 mustang 6 cyl. wont crank, think its the fuel relay switch or punp. the relay switch makes a buzzing when tapped on ?

How old is your battery? if it is 8 years old, I'm betting on the battery being dead. They can die rather suddenly, has happened to me twice. Battery will have enough power to run lights and such, but not crank the engine/power up the FI system. Otherwise, could be the relay.

If you haven't had an alternator / charging warning light on, i would suggest it's the battery, or dirty connections.
