Re: a/c heater blend door in my "95 ford explorer
There are extensive diagrams in the Ford manuals for this, you may be able to convince a local dealer to let you borrow or photocopy the sections you need. The air conditioning gas will need to be recovered by a HVAC tech before disconnecting the pipes (and regassed again after reassembly), in most countries it is illegal to vent the gas to the atmosphere by just undoing the pipes. Dash removal is a pretty major job on these vehicles, you might want to read the manual thoroughly and decide whether it's something you feel comfortable tackling yourself.
Hope this helps,

First, insure you do not have a vacuum leak or bad vacuum check valve. If this is all good, you may have to change actuator and every model has a different way to access this--some require dash removal. If you must do this, get a shop manual as the air bags CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS!
i dont think the blend door pumps are electronic rather work with vacum so my best bet is to check that ure blend door aint broken best way u should hear a bump when u turn cold hot knob from end to end, and that ure main vac line on the engine compartment aint broken and even if electronically control that should be ure second step
Your ac blend door is broken or the actuator that opens and closes the door is broken. The ac blend door moves up and down to direct air flow through the heater core(for heating) or evaporator core(for cooling).
When the door mechanism breaks, the blend door falls down and you will only have ac but no heating.
You can buy a ac blend door kit for your explorer, they cost about $120 on ebay or other places. search for Explorer ac blend door kit.
The duct is under the the dash on the drivers side. And you will have to cut open the duct to install the replacement door.
Since you're talking about the white box it sounds like you're familiar enough to proceed a bit further. Remove the three screws (8mm head) and lift the blend boor actuator off (white box). Manually move the blend door and see if your temp changes. These blend doors have plastic gears inside that strip and don't allow full movement. If you have a change in temperature then replace the actuator.
either the heater core is stopped up or the blend door is stuck turned to cool. the blend door motor's on these are know to go out. so i'd start with that. its under the dash in the middle and usually kinda tough to find. itll be a square plastic box about 2 or 3 inches wide and the same tall with an electrical connector on it bolted to the heater case. when you're turning the temp from cool to hot the blend door isnt turning i'd say
the blend door is roughly in the middle of air distribution Plenum assembly between the heater core and the AC evap core, it either directs air through the heater core or the AC evap core or mixes air from both.
That component is an electric motor that controls the blend door. The motor has a male square shaped drive that fits into the female drive in the blend door. It is common for the blend door to crack. The motor can be easily replaced however if the blend door is broken you will have to remove the heater box. This means that the entire dash must be removed for access. I think mitchell book time on this job is around 7 hours.
