Question about 1988 Ford F 250

1 Answer

88 f250 stalling

Starting the truck is no problem but getting going is the problem. When you accelerate the truck with almost jump and stall untill you reach 25 mph. The rpms go up and down and sometimes it will completly stall out untill you reach that 25 mph. It has also stalled out at a stop light. What the hell is going wrong?

check the fuel pressure, either the fuel filter is clogged or the fuel pump is not giving u enough pressure, change the filter 1st and let me know if the problem persists..

If it's a 7.3 deisel, your timing could have jumped one tooth or your injector pump slipped one way or another. Pull your pump, lines and gear and engrave a line straight up from the timing mark so you can see it when you reset the timing gear.

88 wrangler stalling 5 speed 4 cyl

Was there any water in the tank? Has anyone changed the fuel filter? Has anyone checked the ceramic ballast resistor on the drivers fender near the master cylinder?
Has anyone checked the crank sensor output? Did anyone see if it will run if you spray carb cleaner into the throttle body after starting? Are there pulses present at injector? You need to verify these things to get some idea what is going on there.
