Problem with the heater in cab to outside air switch

Yes i have a problem with the air switch when it is on the recirculate the air blows fine and when i switch it to the outside air it is like it can barley move the air like it is blocked off so how can i fix this or find a diagrm for a 2001 volkswagon new beetle tdi 1.9 turbo ?

It sounds like the cabin air filter - sometimes called a pollen filter - maybe be blocked or frozen up.

Freightliner columbia wont blow heat into cab have replaced thermostats and heater core blend doors work heater core gets hot and blower works but air from vents only gets to 80 deg


The air from the heater core will be as hot as the coolant temperature of the engine. 80 Degrees is the opening temperature of the thermostat and that will be where it remains until the engine starts to work or the ambient temperature rises.
Thermostats come in a couple of different opening temperatures so check around for one that opens around 85 degrees if you want hotter air in the cab
Another point is to close the recirculating vent door to the cabin as the heater core is trying to heat fresh freezing air if it is open

Inside cab blows out hot air controls are off but air still comes out


OUTSIDE AIR: Press this button to direct the system to use outside air.
Pressing the OUTSIDE AIR button will cancel the RECIRCULATION button.

RECIRCULATION: Press this button to limit the amount of outside air entering your vehicle.
This is helpful when you are trying to limit odors entering your vehicle or attempting to quickly cool down the interior. Pressing RECIRCULATION will recirculate air continuously.

RECIRCULATION is used when the fan control is OFF to limit odors, outside air and dust from entering your vehicle. All button lights will go off. The last setting selected will activate when the blower is turned back on.
Pressing the RECIRCULATION button will cancel the OUTSIDE AIR button. To return to normal operation and to prevent stale air, be sure to return the OUTSIDE AIR.

Between HEATER and BLEND mode, outside air is forced to reduce window fogging. If the RECIRCULATION button is pressed, the LED indicator will flash three times indicating that forced outside air is activated and RECIRCULATION is not available.

I think what your experiencing is normal. If you want to keep cold air form coming into the cabin, press the recirc button.

Front heater not working on Honda Odyssey 2009


double posted, ok, front heater so the cab heater is dead
or just not working on some vents
all cab heat gone?
yes, is fan blowing , Y/n
no, bad fuse.
yes, is engine at 180F or more and holding proper temps? y/n

no, fix that first.

Check that the heater is turning off as the hot air will over come the cool air. Check that the clutch on the a/c pulley is still engaging as it the unit was over filled or has a leak from a badly fitted pipe the high low switch will not allow the compressor to work.. If the work was done professionally check that the correct gas was used and seek warranty for the problem.

My 2006 Ram 2500 Diesel cab heater blows cold are out the driver's side vents and hot air out the passenger side. I can't get the cab warm in the winter unless I place the heater in recircula


CHECK all the vent hoses, are they connected, no ob strucctions, when the last time you replaced the cabin air filter ? do you have one? look @ your owners manual, also, you may need to have several heater controls, or other control on as well, see owners manual, anything fall into the defroster vents ? replace thermostat @ engine. see how this works for you, good luck

Recirculating air switch does not work. only outside air blows in the cab of truck.


More than likely you have a defective servo controller that opens and closes the fresh air door. It is located behind the glove box on top of the plenumn (air duct).

If your vehicle is equipped with automatic climate control, this should help.

Recirculation Operation
The HVAC control module controls the air intake through the recirculation actuator. The recirculation switch closes the recirculation door in order to circulate the air within the vehicle. The outside air switch opens the recirculation door in order to route outside air into the vehicle. Regardless of the blower motor switch position, recirculation is available only in the panel and bi-level mode switch positions. Including the OFF position. The mode switch must be placed in either the panel or bi-level position before the blower motor switch is placed in the OFF position. In order to reduce windshield fogging, outside air is circulated when the mode switch is in the defrost or defog positions. If the recirculation switch is pressed into the ON position when the mode switch is in an unavailable mode position, then the recirculation switch LED will flash 3 times. If the HVAC control module detects a fault with the recirc door the HVAC control module will try to drive the actuator for a predetermined amount of time, to outside air, which is the defaulted position for the recirculation actuator

Air feels cool, but not blowing enought air


I worked at a Dodge dealership for a while and 9 out of 10 times this is due to the recirculation door being broken, allowing hot air from outside to enter the cab of the truck. The dashboard will need to be removed to access the area.

Wasn't no problem with untel i replace my water pump. as i finish the water pump job i turn the truck on and feel it up with antifreez and at same time i turn the heat on and smell of entifreez comes out...


You have an antifreeze leak. Probably in the heater core (a small radiator inside of the dashboard that heats the air as it passes through). When the engine is running do you see any steam around the engine? Or smell the sweet antifreeze smell around the engine? If not then it is probably the heater core instead of a hose or somewhere on the engine. Does this truck have the option to switch the heater to recirculate he air inside the cab instead of drawing in outside air? If it does then you can set it to recirculate the air inside and if it still has the smell then its definitely the heater core. Often with a leaking heater core the passenger side floor and firewall area will get wet, but not always.

Aircondition blows hot air on normal but blows cold air on max


The temp blend door rotates between allowing heat through the heater core, or cold air through the a/cevaporator, or a blending of the 2 by being anywhere between the two.

I would check the heater a/c control head first and hope it's just the control head.

DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION A/C-Heater System, Manual The manual air conditioning/heater system used in these vehicles is a split-case, blend air design. This design includes the following major components:
  • An A/C evaporator housing (19850) which is attached to the engine compartment side of the dash panel (01610). This assembly includes: (1) the A/C evaporator core (19860), (2) the suction accumulator/drier (19C836), (3) the A/C cycling switch (19E561), (4) an internal, A/C evaporator core orifice (19D990) located inside the inlet line to the A/C evaporator core, (5) a blower motor (18527), (6) a blower motor wheel (18504), (7) a heater blower motor switch resistor (18591), and (8) the A/C evaporator case (19897).
  • A heater air plenum chamber (18471) which attaches to the passenger compartment side of the dash panel. This assembly includes: (1) the outside/recirculating air inlet door, (2) the panel door, (3) the floor defrost door, (4) the temperature blend door, and (5) the heater core (18476).
  • Other components which link and/or control the heating and air conditioning systems include: (1) the A/C control (19980), (2) the ducts and registers, (3) the windshield defroster hose nozzle (18490), (4) the control cables, (5) the vacuum lines, (6) the refrigerant tubes and hoses, (7) the A/C compressor (19703), and (8) the A/C condenser core (19712).

The A/C control (19980) assembly consists of three main parts:
  • The function selector knob, a vacuum selector valve combined with an internal electrical switch.
  • Heater blower motor switch (18578), an electrical switch that provides four speeds of A/C blower motor operation.
  • A temperature control knob, which controls the position of the temperature blend door mounted on A/C evaporator housing (19850) assembly.

Temperature Control
The temperature selector actuates a variable resistance switch. This switch varies the voltage to an electric actuator used to position the temperature blend door. Positioning the temperature control in any position between COOL and WARM causes the temperature blend door to direct more or less outside air through or around the heater core (18476) for whatever proportion of heated or unheated outside air is desired. The air blends together as it leaves the heater core and enters the heater air plenum chamber (18471) for distribution.

System Airflow Description Air is drawn into the system by the blower motor (18527) through the outside-recirc. door opening. The air is blown through the A/C evaporator core (19860) and then the heater core (18476) (when the temperature control is moved toward the WARM position). When the temperature blend door is in the maximum COOL position, the air bypasses the heater core. When the temperature control is moved to the right, away from the maximum COOL position, air passes through the heater core where it is warmed, and then mixed with the cool air before it is discharged through the registers. OFF
With the function selector in the OFF position, the outside-recirc. door is in the recirculated air position. It is closed to outside air and no air passes through the system. The blower motor is off. MAX A/C
NOTE: No temperature modulation is possible in the MAX A/C position.

In the MAX A/C position, the outside-recirc. air door is in the recirculated air position. All of the air discharges through the panel registers except for a small amount of floor bleed. The A/C compressor (19703) operates in this function control setting.

You have to almost remove the dash to get this part out.
Removal
  1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
  1. NOTE: Refer to Section 01-12 for instrument panel removal and installation procedure.

    Loosen instrument panel (04320) and pull back from cowl.
  1. Remove A/C electronic door actuator motor electrical connector from bracket on A/C evaporator housing.
  1. Remove three A/C electronic door actuator motor retaining screws.
  1. NOTE: The mounting bracket remains in place on the A/C evaporator housing.

    Lift A/C electronic door actuator motor vertically approximately 12mm (1/2 inch) to disengage it from bracket and actuator shaft, then pull A/C electronic door actuator motor back toward passenger compartment.
