Question about 1998 Honda Accord
Check engine light came on, stayed on for a couple more trips, then went off.....then came back on again when I accelerated to 3000 rpm....went off again, now it's back. Plus even when I'm stopped at a light it sits at 1000 rpm, no revving or idling, but shouldn't it be at zero? Please tell me what the problem is, I don't have the money to take it to a mechanic and find out...only enough to repair whatever the problem might be....
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Sounds like your O2 sensor is malfunctioning. When the check engine light comes on, the computer goes into a preset mode bypassing the O2 sensor and that's why it suddenly runs good. Have the O2 sensor checked. You can also have the trouble codes read and they should point you in the same direction.
