Question about Mitsubishi Montero

2 Answers

2003 4x4 2.5 diesel engine. often wont rev cleanly, feels like it's bogging with too much fuel, light accelerator pressure is ok but lots of accelerator pedal especially in lower gears and it bogs. Is it likely to be dirty injectors?

    Fuel

I changed the air and fuel filter. the engine was analysed by Mitsubishi for another low speed judder fault and remapped which cured the other fault but didn't get rid of the one that is still present. I tried a cleaner fuel additive and some excellium diesel, still no joy.

I am no expert but the symptom is similar to a petrol engine being far too rich which is what made me think it's the injectors.

The fuel filter looked fine. I think I will get someone (who knows what they are doing) to look at the injectors.

Thanks for your help it's appreciated :o)

My wife had a similar problem with a 2006 Grand Vitara Suzuki. Actually, problem was poor quality diesel. Sha had to add a specific filter forsulfur and it was solved. Maybe this can help. Must precise that my Landcruiser, using the same diesel, didn't show any prolem at all, so some cars are more vulnerable than others

Could be dirty injectors but also change the fuel filter first as this is often the problem

I agree the injectors would be my next step,, what was the fuel filter like, if it was rotten then it will have muck in the injectors too, after that would be the fuel pump

Any one know 4by4 Mitsubishi triton no codes cranks need help urgent

the tachometer ( rev counter) get its impulses from the ignition system or in the case of a diesel from the crankshaft position sensor
if it runs with introduced fuel ( dangerous for a diesel) but then dies, that indicates insufficient fuel pressure to the injectors
could be a diesel pressure pump ( test to 25,000 psi) not producing sufficient pressure to work injectors
problem fuel supply to pump, tank venting, filters , air in system etc

Engine idle revs high when in park or nuetrol. When driving ckek engine light is on off intermittinlly, a loss of power.

Always check for trouble codes when the check engine light turns on during engine running. After repairs are made, a scanner can be used to erase the codes.

It sounds like a fuel problem, so you would need to have the fuel pressure tested. This will verify the fuel pump and fuel filter are not the problem if the pressure is correct.

Clean fuel, clean filters, clean pvc, and since its a '99 try an emissions flush, your e-vap canister is most likely cloggeg, or even a faulty egr valve,

Vehicle rev's or accelerates fine when started for just a minute. Then it wont rev up. When you push on the gas it just struggles. Wont really go much above 1500-1700 rpm. idles ok. It is a gasonline...

that sounds like a fuel delivery problem. either the filter is clogged or the pump is not delivering the right pressure. i assume you have no check engine light. this would not set one but other problems like sensors would. being 11 yrs old i would not be surprised if the fuel pump was worn out. good luck

My 307 hdi does not accelerate properly

The electrovalve that controls the turbo waste gate needs to be changed it costs around £40. It is located on the front lower part of the engine block. I have done lots of them they are a common fault after about 50000 miles.

Engine revs take off on there own

Check out the throttle sensor. If its ok then you have a injection pump problem.IF you cannot turrn the engine of when the car starts reving then its running on its own oil.
