Question about Mazda Protege

1 Answer

Hey this is great! Perhaps someone can help me solve my ignition problem. Seems when I turn the key, I need to HOLD the key in the start position for about ten-fifteen seconds before she'll catch and start. No sound what so ever, just wait, sometimes even longer to see if she'll catch. The thing is once she catches and starts, I need to wait until the engine is cold before I experience the same problem again. Thus far the shop has replaced the starter motor, completely removed the remote start and various other checks. Still a problem!!

This sounds like a fuel pump problem, check the pressure when it happens, could also re related to bad run circuit contacts in the switch

Subaru stuck in drive won't start

You should be able to remove the cover over your shifter and find the shift interlock override. Have you had it long? Try turning key to on position and put foot on brake when trying to shift it. If none of this helps, need to know specific year, make and model. Usually problem is they won't come out of park. Sounds like you could have a linkage problem possibly.

Someone tried to steal my 2000 ford mustang, they messed up with ignition switch, the locksmith put a new ignition lock with new key, but was not able to program the new key, the theft light blinks...

Disconnect battery for at least 2 hours.
Hold negative and positive leads together for 5 minutes.
PUT KEY IN THE IGNITION, but not turned on.
Connect POSITIVE lead.
Connect negative lead in one swift movement.
Wait 15 minutes for chip in ignition switch and chip in the key to be recognised by the ECM.
Start the vehicle.
