Question about 2000 Mercury Sable
I have the owners manual that shows how to replace all the light bulbs. if you have not figured this problem out. i own a 2004 Sable, also. I am having issues with my battery dying all the time but the system check says that my charging system is OK. but at AutoZone thier machine says the alternator is only putting out 12-13volts and it should put out 14.5volts...any suggestions besides calling a service department

I suspect the alternator a little. An alternator has a low-charge circuit... and a high-charge circuit.. The low-charge circuit usually provides enough charge to keep the battery charged enough for daylight (low-load) use.... BUT it requires the high-charge circuit to provide enough charge for night time (high-load) use. The best symptom of this is your car continues to start until you use it at night. However, I suggest you put a brand-new battery in it before you do anything else, or at least have it tested by somebody you trust.
