Question about 1990 Chevrolet Lumina

1 Answer

Won't move I've got a '90 Chevy Lumina 3.1 that won't even budge. The parking brake hasn't worked since I've had it (you can see the cable hanging beneath the car) so I'm not sure what the problem could be. Any thoughts? Thanks guys. Matt

No, it won't move in neutral. Happened a couple months ago or so, I was gonna roll it down the driveway to move the tires a bit but it wouldn't even move.

I bet your brakes are rusted to the rotors /drums. There's is a lot of metal in brake friction materials these days.Take off the wheels and give the brake drums and calipers a few wraps with a ball peen hammer. That should do it.

92 olds cutlass supreme, shifter moves into gear, but car will not move. Help

It\'s right where the shifter cable goes into the shaft, look
right next to the steering cloumn under the hood, the switch
won\'t keep the car from moving tho,it just wouldn\'t start. But you
could look there to make sure the cable hasn\'t broken or come
unhooked. The cable goes to an arm about 3 inches long just
make sure the arm moves when shifting.

I can't get the rear drum off a 2005 Pontiac Vibe, it won't budge.

I'm assuming you have the parking brake off right? You need a rubber mallet and start taping all around it to break it free it will come off.

Why won't mu 1999 honda accord's gearshift move from park when the silver button is pushed

This car has a park lock safety system that will only release the shifter if the brake pedal is pushed and the brake lights work, so first thing is to check and see if you have brake lights.

2008 Saturn Vue Stuck In Park. The car starts fine however when you try to shift out of park the shifter is locked up and won't budge. You have to restart the car multiple times to get the shifter...

these have a safety system so the shifter won`t go into any gear unless the brake is pushed(indicating someone sitting in the drivers seat),if the brake lights aren`t working this indicates that the fuse that operates the shift lock solenoid and brake lights is not working and needs replacing.check the fuses and replace the fuse and things will probably return to normal.

Replaced brake switch now won't go out of park 1997 chevy tahoe what do i need to do?

do the brake lights come on now with the new brake switch? Why did you replace the brake switch? It sounds like the switch is not being actuated or does not have a good electrical connection. You cannot move the shifter out of park unless the brake switch indicates the brakes are depressed. Whether or not the brake lights are functioning is a good indicator of whether the switch is working or not.

don't know if you've checked, but the shifter won't release if the brake lights are not working, it's the result of a bad micro switch...
