The heater is located in the air ducting plenum box, to access this you must remove the instrument cluster, the radio and the heater controls, then unbolt the entire dash and remove it. This is a huge job, around 10 hours.

SOURCE: Where is the fuse for the heater located?

Ok, there is going to be a box underneath the hood of your car. It is usually on the drivers side. You will be able to open this box and there should be a diagram on which fuse is the heater. Be sure to take off the battery terminals before switching these fuses out (just in case).

The heater switch as you refer to it is the part on the dashboard that you use to control the fan speed. I suspect that what you are looking for is the blower motor resistor. When this is not functioning properly you will find that the fan only works on the highest speed setting. The resistor is mounted at the fan housing. The fan housing is on the passenger side behind the glove box. To get a proper view remove the kickpanel under the passenger side dash held in place by 2 pins that can be pulled out. If you still cant see it open the glove box. In the top rear of the glove box are 2 tabs that need to be bent inward to unhook from the stops. Hopefully you cleared out the glove box before this or its contents will now be in the footwell. The resistor connector plug should now be visible. Remove the connector and 2 screws that hold the resistor in place and remove the resistor. On re-assembly the resistor can go in one way only.

I have a 2002 mercury sable....i replaced the heater core....now my power windows dont work...my windsheild wipers dont work....my boot release dont work...radio dont work.....what is going on

As you probably know, the dash must be removed to access the heater core, there was probably a connector left loose behind the dash somewhere.

Mercury sable 2002 serpentine belt change

There are also two serpentine belt types for the 2002 sable. The S and U type engine. Take the old belt with you the the parts store. As for the diagram, I googled it under images and about a dozen correct ones came up. Remember the 2002 sable is the same as the 2002 Tarus.

The blend door that regulates the airflow over the heater core may be stuck in the AC position. It is inside the case and is most difficult to get to. There may be a YouTube video that may help you locate it and test it.
