clicking sound heard? starts fast then slows down as you crank over engine?ok try this --at the starter there is an electrical connection -- B+red wire and a smaller wire make sure these connections are tight. if ok proceed to next step--if you hear a low clicking sound when you turn the key and when trying to jump start the car still hear a click sound have someone tap on starter while you try to start it --- if car starts the starter solenoid is bad, anything more please write me back, Lee Davidian
Most common problem causing this code is the purge solenoid. A quick smoke test will show if you have any leaks in the system. If no leaks and the fuel cap is installed properly it's the purge solenoid.
Weak battery or flaky starter solenoid. Check the condition of the wires betwixt the battery and the starter solenoid first. Also check the ground wire(s).
I recently had the same problem. I have a 1999 Intrepid. I changed the Camshaft position sensor and tha crankshaft position sensor. I haven't had anymore of those problems.
