Try replacing the motor on the back of the transfer case that engages high/low, which should fix the issue.

How do i engage into 4 Wheel Drive Mode on my V8 4.6 HSE

a 1999 landrover Range Rover is in constant 4 wheel drive. the only change you can make is high or low range and this is handled through the gear shift selection.

I have 2003 RA Holden Rodeo 3.0 ltr T/Diesel. The 2 front wheels don't seem to be engaging when i put it into 4wd (high or low range). I can hear the high and low range click in when i press the buttons...

Does yours have AUTO hubs, there are some luxory models have auto hubs, these rely on difference in drive on the axles,(wheel spin) others have manual locking hubs, these actually need to be engaged manually, these require you to twist the centre of the hub to engage and disengage the front hubs, these sometimes require you to reverse to disengage properly, Rodeo had both depending on model. Four wheel drive engages and kicks out, light comes on and stays on and then kicks out the transfer case shifter

I would suspect you have a bad wheel speed sensor or a speed sensor defective... do you have an ABS/CheckEngine/4 wheel drive light on somewhere on the vehicle display... That might help fix the problem.

How do I turn 4wd on?

    • 1 Start your Dodge truck's engine.
    • 2 Turn the electronic transfer case from "2WD" to "4WD Lock" to engage the high range 4WD, if the dodge truck is equipped with an electronic transfer case; otherwise, shift the transfer case lever from "2H" to "4H." The electronic transfer case is located on the instrument panel and is marked with "2WD," "4WD Lock" and 4WD Low." The lever-equipped transfer case is located to the right of your leg and is marked with "2H," "4H" and "4L."
    • 3 Shift the transmission into "Neutral" while the vehicle is either stopped or rolling at 2 to 3 mph to begin engaging in the low range 4WD. Turn the electronic transfer case to "4WD Low," if the Dodge truck is equipped with an electronic transfer case; otherwise, shift the transfer case lever from "2H" or "4H" to "4L."
    Tips & Warnings
    • Indicator lights will come on and alert you that your vehicle is in either the high or low range of 4WD.
    • Do not engage in the low range of 4WD drive if the transmission is in gear; you must shift to "Neutral" first.
    • Many Dodge trucks allow you to shift from 2-wheel drive to the high range of 4WD at up to 55 mph--consult your truck's manual to ensure that this is possible. Do not exceed 55 mph while engaged in the high range of 4WD. Do not exceed 25 mph while engaged in the low range of 4WD.
    • Do not engage in 4WD unless you are on slipper or rocky roads.

Four wheel drive will not engage, the transfer will go into low range but front wheel will not engage in low or high range

If it's a mid to late 90's sounds like the actuator on the right front (rear) axle housing isn't operating. Check the lines (red and green) going to it and then the actuator it's self. It's only held in with 4 bolts. If I've helped, please rate my assistance, and leave a testimonial. Thanks and Happy Holidays!

On small shift behinde gear lever there is 3 settings. H4 = 4 wheel drive high range, L4 = 4 wheel drive low range, h2 = 2 wheel drive high range. as soon as jou engage to 4 wheel drive a green light on the dash board will appear to indicate that the car is in 4 wheel drive. if not check fuse - check air pipes at front wheels.
