The fuel filter is either blocked or installed in the wrong direction.the rotor and distributor cap are fine. swop the fuel filter around and try again.

Won't run, got fuel, got spark from coil to distributer but will not fire. Tried new plugs, fuel filter and dust. cap. No go.

You may want to change your rotor bug in distrubtor,If this don't work you may have bent or wornout shaft goig down from distrubutor inside motor. But if your getting fire to the coil but not the distrubtor i think the rotor bug will fix it. Good luck to you.

Rough idle 1990 mercury cougar

Can be several things. May just need a tune up:spark plugs, wires, rotor cap and button, fuel filter, air filter. It may also need a timing adjustment, Idle Air Control (IAC) valve, or throttle position sensor. Do the tune-up first and see what it does.

What should the fuel pressure be on a 2002 mercury cougar v6. car will turn over fine and sputter. it sounds like it really wants to start but will not run.

REPLACE FUEL FILTER FIRST.THEN CHECK FUEL PRESSURE,IT SHOULD BE 37 - 41 PSI. IF FUEL PRESSURE OKAY. A LEAKING OR STUCK OPEN EGR VALVE WILL CAUSE ENGINE TO SPUTTER AND SHUT OFF.

96 jeep cherokee, inline 6 4.0... runs fine... after shut off (5-10 mins) acts like its chokeing out, wont start acts like its missing, no combustion (fuel injected) let sit for 20 mins, fires up fine......

Try the pick-up coil that is under the distributer cap.Remove the cap and rotor button then remove the plate that is under the rotor button.Next you need to take off the relucter wheel that is in the way so you can take out the bolts and remove the pick-up coil.
