Go to any car audio installer or your local ford dealer and ask to borrow their stereo removal tools. Or you could buy some yourself from an auto parts shop, not too expensive. Use these to pop the stereo out and, unless you have the security code, DON'T disconnect the plugs at the back. If you do need to disconnect the plugs, write down the serial number of the stereo (M0----) and call a dealer to get the code. Remove the star / torx drive screws that hold the top cover down and lever the cover off. Using a couple of screwdrivers through the centre hole of the cds, pull them up until you can align the cd with the inside of the slot that you normally insert them through, and force them back out through there. Do that with all the cds, and then reassemble. This is not as easy as it sounds, and you have to be a bit rough with the cds to release them from the changer, but just be careful not to damage the cd player any further if you're planning to get it fixed at some point.
Hope this helps, Mark

Also, if you are planning on replacing the stereo with an aftermarket unit, just get the stereo installers to retrieve your cds when they are doing the job. Given that the original ford stereos for this model of explorer seem to suffer frequent failures I recommend getting a decent aftermarket stereo rather than getting your old one fixed.

Just bought a 2002 exlorer. can't load cd's into cd player. reads cd error

I have found that any "burned" discs will not be read on older cd/radio combinations. The newer sets will tell you on the box what formats can be read...I also found this to be true on dvd players

My 2002 explorers windows wouldnt go down unless the door was opened. My husband took it apart to see what the problem was and now the windows are stuck in the down position.

It could be a broken wire in the door jamb, check the wiring in the rubber boot in the door jamb, if ok then start checking the switch and the motor

My 2002 Ford Ranger has CDs stuck in the multi-disc player

Take another cd and push the stuck one all the way back then try and eject it. If it doesn't come out right away do the process again this time when you hit eject take another cd and push down or up on it. Wiggle it around so it catches the rollers in there. Using CDs with homemade labels causes jams when the stickers peel up.

Shorted out CD player? 2002 Venture

The fuse is under the hood--it's a maxi 60 fuse, that controls a few things, so it's easy to change. You have to remove the battery cover(unclip and unscrew the thumb bolt on top). If you figure out how to get the stuck cd out, let me know, I've had one stuck in mine since December--luckily the radio still works.

Hello, The stereo has a CD stuck in it and just says ERR.

Yes you can remove the CD , how did it get stuck, during loading or when you tried to eject it? Is it a multi disk Player or a single cd player and is the loader in the trunk of the vehicle?
