If it's plastic that you're trying to remove, get what is called bone tool or trim stick from a parts house. You use this to pull up on the outer edges of the panel and help loosen the clips that hold them to whatever they are attached to.

How to remove and put the a new radio in a toyota highlander 2002

  • Disconnect the negative battery cable and ensure it doesn't contact any metal parts. Place the transmission into the "Drive" position and set the parking brake.

  • 2

Remove the trim from around the stereo by prying at one of the bottom corners with your fingers. Apply pressure until the clips disengage and work your way up the trim. Once the trim is free from the dash set it safely aside.

  • 3

Locate and remove the six 10mm bolts that hold the stereo in place. Pull the head unit out of the Toyota highlander dash and disconnect the wires from the back of the radio.

  • 4

Connect the wiring harness adaptor to the original harness. Mount the new stereo into the Toyota radio mounting kit and secure it by following the manufacturer's instructions. Plug the wiring harness adaptor and antenna wire into the back of the new stereo.

  • 5

Slide the entire stereo assembly into the dash and reconnect the battery cable. Turn the radio on and verify the speakers and controls are working on the new stereo. Secure the stereo in the dash with the six 10mm bolts and replace the trim ring around the radio.

Passenger side rear window wont work, it's like it came off the runner. how do i get the door cover off?

Screws under the door pull/ armrest, the padded rest can be prised up carefully , single screw in the pull handle undo , pull out the handle and with a flat bladed screwdriver ping off the plastic clip and remove the actuating wire from the handle, prise out the electric window switch and unplug, check underneath for screws.
Grab the bottom of the trim and give it a sharp tug .
The bottom of the trim should pop off, once it is free lift the trim vertically to unhook the window sealing strip at the top of the trim ( it is part of the trim)
Check for wires to speakers and that the plug for the window is not caught in the hole.
Your trim should be in your hand!

My 2005 toyota highlander power windows for one of the back doors has stoppped working. It went down but now is not coming up.

If all your other windows are working it must be a loose connector at the power window regulator. You have to remove the door trim and check the connector. If there is a water leak it could have cause damage to the window regulator itself or cause corrosion in the connector

How do you put rear window back on track for 2005 Highlander?

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Pull back the weather seal and you can access the window and the track. You may need to purchase some new replacement clips that secure the window onto the track.

How to put the rear window back on track of my 2006 highlander

alot of the screws are hidden on these models .. look for a plastic square or a round that can be popped out near the door handles.. also there is probably screws under the door handle .. make sure you have all bolts and or screws out of the door panel before starting to pop the plastic keepers loose.. Start at the bottom of the door with a flat blade screw driver and pry the panel loose all the way around .. working up the sides. once you have gotten it all loose pickup on the door panel to release it from the window lip which holds the top of the door panel.. then lift it off .. you will then find plastic over the holes in the doors and you will have to remove it to see your problem .. thanks jerry

    Driver side wiper wont work

One side does not work? Can you move the arm with your hands? If so, look for a loose nut that holds the wiper arm on. Remove the plastic trim on the wiper arm base, and tighten the 12 millimeter bolt. Please advise if this helps.
