Question about 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue

I have a 98 intrique . as i was picking up speed my car cugged and my rpm's bounced high then down and then after trying to drive through it i was able to hit about 65 mph but still noticed the hesitation then my ses light started flashing then it just stayed on. i do need an exhaust problem fixed but was wondering if this problem would be related

Yes. your exhoust problem has likely caused this.as a result,the oxygen sensors in the exhoust system are probably now bad.these sensors will couse the ses light to stay on.

The engine 4M41 is overheating heating on hills


if you drive on hills at high rpm ur engine temp. will surely shoot up due to the load on ur engine while trying to gain the desired speed/ u should not drive uphill with high rpm try to maintain low speed with low rpm

Battery light comes on when accelerating, alternator is ok


In fact the Alternator is on it's way out, I had Taurus that was doing the same thing. When the RPM's were over 3000 the light would flicker. What happens is, the slip rings wear and get out of round and when the RPM's get too high the brushes start to bounce causing the light to flicker. Keep in mind the alternator is spinning about 3 times the speed of the engine. Pick up an alternator it's just a matter of time, mine went about 6 months like that, try to keep the RPM's low.

check the speed sensor,if the computer doesn't know the speed it does not know how fast you are going ,so you won;t have peak performance

Toyota pickup tach bounces and sometimes drops out


Sounds like a speed sensor. Commonly located on the transmission. I have seen these make gauges do some crazy stuff! Hope this helps! ~Derek~
