Question about 2002 Hyundai Accent

1 Answer

My 2002 hyundia accent is loosing coolant. I have replaced the radiator cap, when it would not start i had it towed and checked and they said with the coolant being low it flooded the engine and i had to have the spark plugs replaced. They did a diagnostic - nothing. They did a pressure test on thr radiator and said they found no leaks. My engine light goes on and off and the radiator resivore keeps overfilling so i have to keep putting fluid in. I got this car from a ford dealer 5 months ago. HELP!

I have a 2002 hyundia sonata with a 4 cycilinder. It does not overheat. But I'm loosing cooliant. Did a pressure test and no leaks. I see it leaking out the overflow. I repaced the radiator cap and...

I believe that you are filling the reservoir too much...There should be two fill lines...1 cold fill line and 1 hot/warm fill line....If you put coolant up to the hot fill line when the engine is cool, then when you are driving the coolant starts to boil and comes out of the overflow because there is too much coolant....That's why its important to fill to the right line..

Ok, so the temperature guage fluctuates between halfway up the guage and 3/4 of the way up the guage. It overheated once and there is no antifreeze in the oil and the fluid level is not going down, yet I...

Sounds like there is air trapped in the system. On a COLD engine, remove the radiator cap, and check the level. If it's low, slowly add coolant until the rad is filled right to the top, then cap it. Top up coolant overflow bottle if required. Start the engine. As the engine reaches operating temperature, the coolant level in the overflow bottle should rise. If it doesn't, it means that all the air is not yet 'burped' out of the system. Provided that the radiator cap is good, and that the coolant level is maintained at the proper level, the system should eventually expel all the air. Hope this helps. Good luck.

2002 caravan replaced radiator , now we have no heat how do you bleed the air out of the system.

Pull the radiator/ resevoir cap off. start the car and let warm up. after it is warm rev the engine and add coolant as needed. only add alittle at a time. revving the engine pushes the air thru. you will loose some coolant as the air is purged. do this until you get heat from the dash. then keep check on the coolant level for a few days.

No heat ..help installed new heater switch, replaced water pump..replaced coolants, and thermostat......................what else could it be? Nissan 2003 GXE Sentra 1.8 L Engine/...

you could have an air pocket in the cooling system that has to be burped. With a cold engine, park uphill and leave the radiator cap loose. Fill radiator and coolant reservoir. Start engine with cap loose and run at 1500 rpm until temp gauge reads normal. Feel if top radiator return hose from engine to radiator is hot. If yes, coolant is flowing and thermostat is open. If cold, thermostat is not staying closed until engine is hot.

report results.

AC works, Heater not working, 2003 Hyundai Accent.

Check the coolant level, do this with a cold engine. Or if you have recently used it. let it cool down for about 25 minutes before removing the radiator cap. if it is low, refill with coolant. If it does not, check your thermostat. Or better yet replace your thermostat. Be sure to get the right one . the same degrees as your old one. Just ask the teller to give you one for your engine size and car Model. And year.See where the radiator cap is. Then drain some coolant to where it will not spill from the radiator cap. Remove the hose nearest the radiator cap and you will get to the thermostat housing. Remove the housing and note how the thermostat is placed. Take of the thermostat housing and the old thermostat. Clean the housing and around the hole where the thermostat goes of any deposits. Get some grease and cover the new gasket with grease on the housing to hold it in place. replace the New thermostat and make sure it is flush with the engine and the housing. If it is off , you could break the housing upon tightening the housing.replace the hose and refill with coolant slowly to eliminate any air spaces.. Also check the coolant reservoir and fill it to the indicator line. Restart the car and chek for any leaks. Then check the heater after the engine heats up. If that does not do the job it could be the temperature sensor or the heater core. The heater core will take more time to check and clean or replace.
